Job summary

Randstad Malaysia is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to lead civil litigation, CIPAA adjudication defenses, and related disputes for a prominent property developer in Malaysia. You will partner with internal teams including project and commercial divisions to mitigate risk and manage dispute resolution strategies.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of PQE with civil litigation, CIPAA adjudication defense, and corporate compliance.
• Ideally gained in-house with a property developer/builder or within a top-tier dispute resolution practice.

Responsibilities

• Conceive and lead defenses against construction payment claims, CIPAA adjudication, and arbitrations.
• Oversee civil court proceedings related to land transactions, joint development agreements, tenancy defaults, and buyer disputes.
• Coordinate with panel law firms to prepare pleadings, defense papers, and settlements while managing legal expenditure.
• Advise project, commercial, and property management divisions on risk mitigation, project delay claims, and contract termination risks.

• Commercial & Land Litigation: Oversee civil court proceedings relating to land transactions, joint development agreements, tenancy defaults, and buyer disputes.

• External Legal Counsel Management: Partner with panel law firms to prepare pleadings, defense papers, and settlement structures while managing legal expenditure.

• Operational Legal Advisory: Advise project, commercial, and property management divisions on risk mitigation, project delay claims, and contract termination risks.
