Agensi Pekerjaan PeopleLAKE Sdn Bhd is seeking a qualified Legal Counsel in Johor Bahru to provide timely and pragmatic legal advice across departments. You will draft, review, negotiate and finalise contracts such as sale and purchase agreements, tenancy agreements and NDAs, and ensure compliance with Malaysian laws.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor of Law (LLB) with 3–5 years PQE in conveyancing, real estate, or corporate/commercial practice, and can articulate complex concepts in English

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in law (LLB) or equivalent.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia; Mandarin is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Malaysian law and ability to articulate legal concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Strong legal research, analytical, problem-solving, drafting and negotiation skills.
  • 3–5 years PQE, ideally gained in a law firm with conveyancing, real estate, or corporate/commercial practice, or in-house legal department.

Responsibilities

  • Provide timely and pragmatic legal advice to various departments on a wide range of legal matters.
  • Prepare, draft, review, negotiate and finalise contracts and legal documents including sale and purchase agreements, tenancy agreements and NDAs.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research and stay updated on laws, regulations and industry practices.
  • Prepare, review, proofread and format legal documents such as letters, forms, notices and instruments.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements and safeguard company rights and interests.
  • Prepare and manage legal documentation for land transactions and property-related filings.
  • Advise on property-related transactions from legal and regulatory perspectives.
  • Liaise with external lawyers, regulators and advisers on disputes, transactions and other matters.
  • Identify, assess and mitigate legal risks in property transactions and development; manage disputes.

Job description

  • Provide timely and pragmatic legal advice and opinions to various departments on a wide range of legal matters.

  • Conduct comprehensive legal research and keep abreast with the development or updates in the relevant laws, regulations and industry practices.
  • Prepare, review, proofread and format various legal documents, including letters, forms, notices, memorandum and instruments.
  • Ensure that the company comply with all relevant statutory and regulatory requirements and protect the company's right and interest.
  • Prepare and manage legal documentation for land transactions and other property-related applications and filings.
  • Advise and review property-related transaction from legal and authorities' compliance perspective.
  • Liaise and coordinate with external lawyers, regulatory authorities, advisers and external parties on legal disputes, property transactions and legal matters.
  • Contribute to identifying, assessing, and mitigating legal risks associated with property transaction and development; and manage and resolve property-related disputes and issues.
  • Provide legal support to the Group in all legal, operational and contractual matters, ensuring legal considerations are effectively addressed.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in law (LLB) or its equivalent.
  • Good command of written and oral English and Bahasa Malaysia. Ability to speak in Mandarin is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Malaysian law and able to articulate legal concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Good legal research, analytical, problem-solving, drafting and negotiation skills.
  • 3 - 5 years of post-qualification experience (PQE), ideally gained in law firm with a conveyancing, real estate, or corporate/commercial practice, or in an in-house legal department within the relevant industry.
