Job summary

Jason Tan & Partners is seeking a motivated Legal Associate to join our team. The successful candidate will primarily handle civil litigation matters from start to trial, gaining hands-on experience in case management and documentation.

You will draft pleadings, conduct legal research, prepare submissions, attend hearings, and manage deadlines with independence. English and Bahasa Malaysia proficiency are essential.

Qualifications

• Candidate must possess a valid practising certificate.
• Experience in civil litigation will be an advantage.
• Strong drafting, research and analytical skills.
• Good command of written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia.
• Able to work independently, manage multiple matters and meet deadlines.
• Responsible, organised and detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Handle and manage civil litigation matters from commencement through to conclusion.
• Draft pleadings, cause papers, affidavits, written submissions, correspondence and other legal documents.
• Conduct legal research and provide assistance on legal issues and matters assigned.
• Attend, prepare for and assist in the conduct of case managements, hearings, trials and other Court-related matters, including the preparation of relevant documents and submissions.
• Manage assigned matters and ensure that all necessary steps and deadlines are properly attended to.
• Attend to any other work as assigned by the Partners of the Firm from time to time.
