Job summary

Plexus Corp in Penang, Bayan Lepas, is seeking a Training Engineer to design and deliver technical training for PCBA processes. You will work with site managers and SMEs to close performance gaps and align with regional development curriculums.

You will collaborate with SMEs and external consultants to create training materials, conduct programs per schedule, and monitor effectiveness. The role emphasizes data-driven evaluation and APAC-wide resource expansion.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering or Science with minimum 3 years’ PCBA experience.
• Familiar with PCBA processes such as screen printing, component placement, reflow, manual insertion, wave soldering, selective wave soldering, washing, conformal coating and rework.
• Strong analytical skills and familiarity with Minitab/Statistical analysis.
• Knowledge in IPC standards and 8D problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Identify training needs and develop curriculums and training solutions (classroom and hands-on) to close performance gaps.
• Collaborate with area SMEs or external consultants to develop technical training materials and methods.
• Conduct relevant technical training programs to employees per schedule.
• Support and monitor regional manufacturing-engineering development curriculums and roadmaps.
• Secure buy-in from site functional leaders for engineering competency development and ensure shared ownership.
• Source and coordinate development programs to maximize participation from engineering community.
• Measure training effectiveness via surveys, assessments and stakeholder feedback.
• Develop and manage training resources (trainers, materials, equipment) for optimal shared use.
• Expand training resources across APAC with SMEs and functional experts.

Job description

• Work closely with site functional managers to identify functional technical training needs/curriculums and develop training solutions such as classroom training, hands-on practical avenues and etc to close the performance gap.
• Work collaboratively with respective area’s SMEs or external consultants to develop training materials and methodology pertaining to technical training.
• Conduct relevant technical training programs to employees within the incumbent’s capacity, following the training schedule.
• Participate, support and monitor manufacturing-engineering development curriculums (ie: Yearly engineering training roadmap) and process at regional level.
• Get buy-in and support from respective site functional leaders on manufacturing-engineering development and ensure there is shared ownership on engineers’ competency development.
• Source and coordinate manufacturing-engineering development program to ensure optimal participation from the engineering community.
• Measure and report out the effectiveness of training through survey, assessment, customer and stakeholder’s feedback.
• Develop and manage the training resources (setup a pool of internal/external trainers, materials, equipment) to allow effective utilization of shared resources and knowledge between sites.
• Work closely with functional experts or SMEs to continuously expand training resources and deploy it across APAC.

Education/Experience Qualifications:

• Familiar with PCBA processes such as screen printing, component placement, reflow, manual

• Experience in chemical qualification activities such as solder paste, flux and etc and pallet design would be an added advantage.
