Job summary

PEM Fasteners in Malaysia seeks a senior Lean/Kaizen specialist to lead operational improvements across the Seremban plant. The role focuses on reducing waste, enhancing process efficiency, and cutting costs while improving product quality.

The ideal candidate holds a engineering bachelor’s degree with 10+ years in industrial engineering or Lean/Kaizen, and is fluent in English, Bahasa Malaysia, and Mandarin. Proficiency in CAD and MS Office is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electronics, electrical, industrial, or related engineering fields.
• Strong foundation in industrial engineering, especially process automation and optimization.
• Excellent command of Bahasa Malaysia, English, and Mandarin.
• Proficient in CAD drawing software and MS Office.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Drive and implement company-wide operational system improvements based on Lean.
• Identify and eliminate waste across all operational areas (time, material, energy).
• Collaborate with operations teams to realize Lean strategies and actionable plans.
• Analyse and enhance process efficiencies to reduce costs and improve quality.
• Develop standardized work instructions to ensure consistency and efficiency.
• Foster a Lean culture and manage Kaizen improvement projects with timely delivery.
• Provide coaching on Lean/Kaizen processes to improve lead-time and growth targets.
• Monitor and report improvement metrics to assess effectiveness.

Drive and implement company-wide operational system and process improvements in alignment with Lean methodology principles

Identify and eliminate waste across all operational areas (e.g., process time, material, and energy)

Collaborate with operational teams to realize the Lean operational strategies including set targets and develop actionable plans

Analyse and enhance process efficiencies to reduce product costs and improve product quality

Develop and maintain standardized work instructions and processes to ensure consistency and efficiency across operations

Foster and sustain a Lean culture across the organization, promoting continuous improvement

Manage Lean or Kaizen improvement projects, ensuring timely and budget-conscious delivery of objectives

Provide coaching and mentorship to teams on Lean and Kaizen processes to achieve company lead-time improvements and growth targets

Ensure continuous tracking and reporting of improvement metrics to monitor and assess the effectiveness of Lean initiatives

Perform additional duties as assigned by Management

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electronics, Electrical, Industrial, or other relevant engineering disciplines

Solid foundation in industrial engineering principles, particularly process automation and optimization

Strong communication skills in Bahasa Malaysia, English and Mandarin (to liaise with counterparts in the China plant)

Proficient in CAD drawing software and MS Office applications

Minimum 10 years of relevant working experience preferred

Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision
