Job summary

Celestica is seeking a Lead Quality Engineer to drive Digital Factory and Operational Systems across the site in Malaysia. You will oversee software enhancements, system integrations, and monthly governance, ensuring alignment with global teams and customer requirements.

As a SME with 10+ years in PCBA/SMT/HLA, you will lead quality planning, audits, and improvement programs, mentoring junior engineers while ensuring ISO/IPC 610 compliance and strong metrics across manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering or an equivalent field.
• 10+ years of experience in PCBA, SMT, and HLA.
• Strong knowledge of product and manufacturing processes, quality tools, ISO, and IPC 610 standards.
• Proficiency in quality tools such as FMEA, MSA, SPC, and 8D methodology.
• Proficiency on Statistical tools (Minitab, JMP, etc.).
• Six Sigma Black belt / Green Belt preferred and Lean Kaizen principles.
• Experience in coaching and mentoring of Junior Engineers and Associates.
• Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

• Lead Digital Factory Site Lead: deployment, software enhancements, and system integrations (including SAP, SP2, Optimus, and machine modules).
• Manage implementation schedules and track monthly progress via Global Digital Factory Tracker and COS Maturity Assessment.
• COS Site Lead: oversee monthly governance by updating scores, highlights/lowlights, and RCCA action trackers in the Global COS Dashboard.
• Management & Progress Tracking: conduct follow-ups with project leads and lead CPR reviews with the General Manager.
• Quality Planning & Documentation: establish customer PPAPs, Quality Plans/PMPs, and generate quality checklists, routing, and control documentation from NPI through mass production.
• Audits & Compliance: lead audits (ISO, compliance, safety) and maintain internal quality systems and workmanship standards.
• Customer Representation & Quality Assurance: act as certified customer Designated Quality Representative (DQR).
• Problem Solving & Excursion Management: drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for customer feedback.
• Process Control & Continuous Improvement: monitor KPIs, coordinate FMEA reviews, manage ECs and SPCNs, and drive improvements.
• Team Leadership & Mentorship: coach junior quality staff and participate in quality strategy deployment.

Digital Factory Site Lead: Drive site-level deployment, software enhancements, and system integrations (including SAP, SP2, Optimus, and machine modules) in alignment with the Site and I-Operation Global teams.

Manage implementation schedules and track monthly progress via the Global Digital Factory Tracker and COS Maturity Assessment.

Celestica Operating System (COS) Site Lead: Oversee monthly governance by updating scores, highlights/lowlights, and RCCA action trackers monthly in the Global COS Dashboard.

Management & Progress Tracking: Conduct and own follow-ups with project leads. PM check-ins by Cost Element and lead monthly CPR reviews with the General Manager.

Quality Engineering & Operational

Quality Planning & Documentation:Establish customer PPAPs, Quality Plans/PMPs, and generate quality checklists, routing, and control documentation from New Product Introduction (NPI) through mass production.

Audits & Compliance:Lead process, product, system, and supplier audits (including ISO, compliance, and safety standards) and maintain internal quality systems, procedures, and workmanship standards.

Customer Representation & Quality Assurance:Act as a certified customer Designated Quality Representative (DQR) and oversee product and material quality to ensure alignment with customer requirements.

Problem Solving & Excursion Management:Drive root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions for customer feedback, and lead the team in independently handling quality excursions.

Process Control & Continuous Improvement:Monitor and report quality KPIs, coordinate FMEA reviews, manage Engineering Changes (EC) and Supplier Process Change Notifications (SPCN), and drive continuous improvement.

Team Leadership & Mentorship:Coach junior quality staff to improve quality knowledge, support job assignments, and participate in quality strategy deployment.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

Degree in Engineering or an equivalent field.

10+ years of experience in PCBA, SMT, and HLA. (Subject Matter Expert)

Strong knowledge of product and manufacturing processes, quality tools, ISO, and IPC 610 standards. (ASQ/CQI/IRCA Certified)

Knowledge and understanding of the business unit, including how decisions impact customer satisfaction, product quality, on-time delivery, and profitability.

Proficiency in quality tools such as FMEA, MSA, SPC, and 8D methodology.

Proficiency on Statistical tools (Minitab, JMP, etc.)

Six Sigma Black belt / Green Belt preferred and Lean Kaizen principles.
