Job summary

InterContinental Hotels Group is seeking a beverage steward to manage beverage costs, ensure cleanliness, and maintain par stocks. The role involves coordinating with stewards and engineers, following HACCP standards, and delivering high-quality guest service at restaurant and poolside outlets.

The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge of beverage categories, glassware, and presentation, while maintaining inventory accuracy and alignment with Forbes Travel Guide standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain beverage costs at levels established by the restaurant and department.
• Work efficiently with colleagues to complete assigned tasks.
• Interact with stewards and engineers to ensure cleanliness and maintenance of beverage equipment.
• Familiarize with operating procedures of beverages and bar machinery.
• Adhere to resort policies on training, safety and security.
• Have full knowledge of beverages and cocktails; maintain par stocks.
• Provide counter service to guests following established quality standards.
• Assist in serving beverage orders at restaurant and poolside.
• Respond to guest needs and complaints to ensure satisfaction within authority.
• Report for duty on time, groomed, in proper uniform; avoid alcohol on duty.
• Be familiar with beverage categories, glassware usage and presentation.
• Responsible for inventory management including beverage & bar equipment.
• Track near-expiry and slow-moving items with leadership to remedy.
• Prioritize short shelf-life and fresh items to reduce wastage.
• Ensure operating equipment and supplies are clean and maintained.
• Use proper procedures before, during and after serving to guests.
• Participate in daily briefings and training with a positive approach.
• Ensure proper usage of operating supplies and minimize misuse and breakage.
• Keep bar counters clean and organized to standards.
• Foster team spirit to maintain unified service standards.
• Process beverage sales through POS and balance cash at shift close.
• Participate in group sessions to create cocktails and promotional drinks.
• Be familiar with beer and post-mix reticulation.
• Ensure beverage stocks are replenished prior to opening.
• Familiarize with ice machine procedures, glassware racks and glass washer.
• Knowledgeable about snacks service to better serve guests.
• Participate in daily briefing and training.
• Read communications and notice boards daily; take over and hand over duties properly.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, appearance, and pride in uniform and team.
• Adhere to resort and department regulations in employee handbook and operations manual.
• Lead in tailoring guest drinks to create memorable visits; remember preferences and seating.
• Have extensive knowledge about InterContinental activities for guest recommendations.
• Meet HACCP standards and maintain cleanliness front and back of house.
• Uphold Forbes Travel Guide standards as minimum when serving guests.
• Pay attention to small details reflected in a spotless workspace and service.
