Job summary

The InterContinental Hotels Group is seeking a Beverage Service associate to prepare and serve a range of beverages, including coffee, teas and cocktails, while maintaining equipment and stock levels. You will engage with guests, tailor drinks, and uphold the high standards of the InterContinental brand.

Responsibilities include ensuring accurate POS processing, maintaining cleanliness, and collaborating with stewards and engineers for optimal operation of beverage equipment.

Qualifications

• Experience in beverage service is preferred.
• Knowledge of beverage preparation and service standards is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare special drinks/juice of the day and garnish for all required drinks.
• Maintain inventory for cafe and beverage supplies.
• Maintain espresso machines, grinders, coffee machines, juice machine, blenders and other equipment by cleaning and troubleshooting.
• Provide counter service to all guests in accordance with established standards of quality.
• Ensure beverage sales are properly processed through the POS and cash is balanced before the end of shifts.
• Be familiar with beer and post mix reticulation processes and maintain bar/juice counters clean.
• Take lead in tailoring guest drinks and remembering drink preferences and guests' names.

Job description

• To maintain beverage costs at levels established by the restaurant and department.

• To work and complete assigned tasks with optimum efficiency with colleagues.

• Preparing and serving beverages such as drip coffee, espresso-based drinks, teas, juices, alcohol drinks and other specialty drinks.

• Prepare special drinks/ juice of the day and garnish for all required drinks.

• Refill juice/ buffet drinks constantly.

• Answering customers’ questions and recommend for guests about menu's drink choices.

• Tracking and ordering inventory for cafe and beverage supplies, such as coffee beans, milk,napkins and cups, …

• Maintaining espresso machines, grinders, coffee machines, juice machine, blenders andother equipment by cleaning, troubleshooting and scheduling repairs.

• Interact closely with stewards and engineers for proper cleanliness and maintenance of alloperating equipment and beverage related machineries for optimum performance.

• Maintain adequate supply of operating supplies and equipment and familiarize with operatingprocedures of machineries.

• Must be familiarized with all resort policies and procedures in reference to training, safety andsecurity.

• Must have full knowledge of coffee, tea, beverages and cocktails in the bar and maintain thepar stocks.

• Provide counter service to all guests in accordance to established standards of quality.

• Always be attentive to guest needs and complaints and take necessary action to ensureguests’ satisfaction within the parameters of the authority of the position.

• Report for duty on time, neatly groomed and in a clean and proper uniform. Do not consumeany alcohol while on duty.

• Be familiarized with all beverage categories and preparations with correct usage ofglassware/chinaware and presentations.

• Responsible for the inventory management.

• Ensure that all operating equipment and supplies are spotlessly clean and maintained.

• Use proper procedures before, during and after serving of beverage to guests in accordanceto required standards.

• Participate with positive approach towards training and daily briefing.

• Ensure proper usage of operating supplies and equipment to reduce misuse and breakage.

• Work closely and in coordination with the stewarding department in sorting, washing andarranging different types of glasses into appropriate racks.

• Ensure the keeping of bar/ juice counters clean and organized as to standards.

• Realize the importance of team spirit to ensure that colleagues are pursuing a unifiedstandard of service.

• Ensure that beverage sales are properly processed through the Point of Sales register andcash is accounted for and balanced before the close of shifts.

• Participate in-group session to ensure creativities in the making of cocktails, mixed drinks andpromotional drinks are achieved at optimum level.

• Must be familiar with beer and post mix reticulation process.

• Ensure that all beverage stocks are replenished prior to opening.

• Familiarized with ice machine procedures, glassware/ chinaware racking and glass washerprocedures.

• Must be knowledgeable with the snacks service to better serve guests as needed.

• Read the communication file and notice board daily.

• Take over and hand over duties properly.

• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, appearance, and a sense of pride in uniform andrestaurant’s team.

• Know how to use and communicate effectively via walkie talkie.

• Support colleagues during the shift to ensure smooth operations.

• Demonstrate understanding of and adherence to the resort’s and department’s regulationsoutlined in the employee handbook and operations manual.

• Take lead in tailoring on the guest drinks, aiming to make each visit to our outlet asmemorable and unique as possible. You acknowledge guests and remember drinkspreferences; as well as their names and preferred seating.

• You have extensive knowledge about activities in InterContinental and the rest of Ha LongBay, allowing you to give guests recommendations in order to optimize overall guestexperience.

• You are responsible for meeting the HACCP standards and actively check cleanliness in bothfront and back of the house, to make sure standards are adhered.

• Always live up to the standards set by the InterContinental brand, by assuring you know thestandard operating procedures and making sure that they are respected by the team.

• You know the Forbes Travel Guide Standards for restaurants & bars, while ensuring that theteam delivers these standards as the minimum when serving guests.

• Pay attention to small details, which visually expresses in a spotlessly clean workspace,outstanding services and a well-groomed team.
