Job Description
As our senior automation tester, you will own the test automation strategy, framework, and delivery across our software products, ensuring their reliability, functionality, and performance at scale. You will lead a team of automation and manual QA engineers — setting technical direction, mentoring, reviewing code, and driving quality standards — while working closely with developers, project managers, and other cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on technical leader with deep expertise in automated testing frameworks, a keen eye for detail, and a proven track record of building and scaling automation practices that deliver high‑quality software solutions meeting or exceeding customer expectations.
Responsibilities
Team Leadership and Mentoring:
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of automation and manual QA engineers, setting clear goals, conducting reviews, and building capability.
- Provide technical direction, review automation code, and enforce coding and quality standards across the team.
- Allocate work, manage the testing pipeline, and remove blockers to keep delivery on track.
Test Strategy and Planning:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand project requirements and own the overall test plan and automation roadmap.
- Define test strategies and scope, including test objectives, environments, coverage, test cases, and test data.
- Set the automation vision — what to automate, tooling choices, and ROI — and align it with delivery timelines.
Automation Framework and Architecture:
- Design, build, and evolve scalable, maintainable automation frameworks using Selenium and related tooling.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance automated test suites across functional, regression, performance, and smoke testing for web applications.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and automate the provisioning of test environments as needed.
Test Execution and Oversight:
- Oversee execution of automated and manual test suites, analyze results, and categorize, triage, and report defects.
- Monitor and manage test environments and configurations across the team.
- Own API testing strategy and execution using tools such as Postman, Rest Assured, etc.
Test Data Management:
- Establish standards for creating and maintaining test data sets for automated and manual testing.
- Ensure data consistency and isolation across test environments.
- Drive the defect lifecycle using issue tracking systems (e.g., JIRA, Zephyr).
- Work closely with development teams to prioritize, accelerate and resolve defects.
Performance Testing:
- Lead performance testing and analyze system behavior under varying load conditions.
- Identify performance bottlenecks and drive improvements with engineering.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of test cases, scripts, results, processes, and procedures.
- Communicate test progress, coverage, quality metrics, and risks to relevant stakeholders.
Best Practices and Continuous Improvement:
- Stay current with industry trends and best practices in test automation.
- Define, implement, and champion automation best practices across the testing team.
Skills
