Job summary

TechTree is recruiting on behalf of a global insurer for a Staff / Principal Engineer to lead the move to an AI-native engineering model. Hybrid work arrangement in Kuala Lumpur, with responsibility to shape architecture and delivery across key domains.

You'll mentor engineers, embed AI-enabled practices into delivery, and drive engineering standards at scale. This is a hands-on technical leadership role with strategic impact across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Hands-on software engineering and architecture experience.
• Experience with AI-assisted / agentic development.
• Product engineering mindset focused on customer outcomes.
• Ability to mentor engineers and lift teams.
• Insurance/financial services or high-scale digital product background is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead solution architecture for complex, business-critical enterprise systems.
• Embed agentic and AI-assisted engineering into delivery teams.
• Apply AI to legacy understanding, test automation and engineering workflows.
• Coach engineers hands-on and influence standards without formal authority.
• At Principal level, own the technical direction of a major business domain.
