Job summary

MEILI Resort Hotel Sdn Bhd in Semporna, Sabah, is seeking a dedicated Garden Attendant to maintain and care for all gardens and landscaped areas. The role includes grass cutting, pruning, planting and weed control, with learning opportunities in landscaping projects.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of gardening experience, is physically fit, and willing to work weekends or holidays. The position is on-site at MEILI Resort Hotel in Semporna, Sabah.

Qualifications

• SPM or equivalent qualification required.
• At least 1 year of gardening/landscaping experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of plants, lawn and garden maintenance.
• Able to operate basic gardening tools including grass cutters and trimming machines.
• Willing to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
• Willing to be stationed at MEILI Resort Hotel, Semporna, Sabah.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and care for gardens, lawns, plants, trees and landscaped areas throughout the resort.
• Perform regular grass cutting, trimming, pruning, watering and fertilising of plants.
• Plant flowers, shrubs, trees and other decorative plants to enhance surroundings.
• Remove weeds, fallen leaves and garden waste to maintain cleanliness.
• Ensure garden pathways and outdoor areas are clean and unobstructed.
• Monitor plant health and identify pest infestations or diseases.
• Apply fertilisers, pesticides and gardening treatments safely when required.
• Maintain and properly handle gardening tools and equipment.
• Assist with landscaping projects and outdoor decorations.
• Report damaged facilities or irrigation issues to supervisor.
• Dispose of garden waste properly and maintain cleanliness of working areas.
• Follow safety procedures when handling gardening equipment and chemicals.
• Be willing to work extra hours, overtime, weekends and public holidays.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Job description

A. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain and care for all gardens, lawns, plants, trees and landscaped areas throughout the resort.

Perform regular grass cutting, trimming, pruning, watering and fertilising of plants.

Plant flowers, shrubs, trees and other decorative plants to enhance the resort's surroundings.

Remove weeds, fallen leaves, dry branches and garden waste to maintain cleanliness.

Ensure garden pathways, walkways and outdoor areas are clean, tidy and free from obstructions.

Monitor plant health and identify pest infestations, diseases or damaged plants.

Apply fertilisers, pesticides and other gardening treatments safely when required.

Maintain and properly handle gardening tools, machinery and equipment.

Assist with landscaping projects, garden improvements and outdoor decorations.

Report any damaged garden facilities, irrigation systems or maintenance issues to the supervisor.

Ensure proper disposal of garden waste and maintain cleanliness of the assigned working areas.

Follow safety procedures when handling gardening equipment, chemicals and machinery.

Be willing to work extra hours, overtime, weekends and public holidays according to operational requirements.

Perform other duties as assigned by the management from time to time.

B. JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum SPM qualification or equivalent.

Minimum one (1) year of working experience in landscaping, gardening or a similar position will be preferred.

Basic knowledge of plants, flowers, trees, grass maintenance and gardening techniques.

Able to operate basic gardening tools and equipment, including grass cutters and trimming machines.

Knowledge of fertilisers, pesticides and plant care will be an advantage.

Physically fit and able to perform outdoor work under different weather conditions.

Hardworking, responsible, punctual and able to work independently.

Able to work well with other team members.

Willing to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends and public holidays.

Willing to be stationed at MEILI Resort Hotel, Semporna, Sabah.
