Job summary

Meili Resort Hotel Sdn Bhd in Semporna, Sabah is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform routine inspections and repair works across resort facilities.

The role covers electrical, plumbing, HVAC and general building maintenance, with responsibilities for safety, documentation and coordinating with departments. Candidate should have basic technical training and be willing to overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum SPM qualification or equivalent.
• Certificate or Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Building Maintenance or related field advantageous.
• Minimum two years in maintenance or similar position preferred.
• Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC and building maintenance.
• Able to troubleshoot and perform basic repairs independently.
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures and safety practices.
• Able to operate and handle maintenance tools safely.
• Good problem-solving skills and able to work independently.
• Physically fit for hands-on maintenance.
• Good communication and able to work with other departments.
• Willing to work flexible hours including overtime and weekends.
• Willing to be stationed at MEILI Resort Hotel, Semporna, Sabah.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspection, maintenance and repair works for the resort's facilities, equipment and infrastructure.
• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance for electrical, plumbing, air-conditioning, refrigeration and other mechanical systems.
• Troubleshoot and attend to technical problems, equipment breakdowns and maintenance requests promptly.
• Conduct routine inspections of guest rooms, public areas, staff facilities and back-of-house areas to ensure all facilities are in good working condition.
• Attend to maintenance complaints and repair requests from other departments, especially Housekeeping and Front Office.
• Perform basic electrical repairs, plumbing works, carpentry, painting and general building maintenance.
• Monitor the condition of air-conditioning units, water pumps, water heaters, lighting systems and other resort equipment.
• Ensure all maintenance tools, equipment and spare parts are properly stored and maintained.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repair works, equipment inspections and servicing schedules.
• Report major defects, equipment failures and repair requirements to the supervisor or management.
• Ensure all maintenance works are carried out safely and in accordance with company policies and safety procedures.
• Assist external contractors and service providers during maintenance, repair and installation works.
• Respond to emergency maintenance issues and provide immediate assistance when required.
• Be flexible and willing to work extra hours, overtime, weekends and public holidays according to operational requirements.
• Perform other maintenance-related duties as assigned by the management from time to time.

B. JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum two (2) years of working experience in maintenance or a similar technical position is preferred.

Basic knowledge of electrical systems, plumbing, air-conditioning, refrigeration and general building maintenance.

Able to troubleshoot and perform basic repair and maintenance works independently.

Knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures and workplace safety practices.

Able to operate and handle maintenance tools and equipment safely.

Good problem-solving skills, responsible and able to work independently.

Physically fit and able to perform hands‑on maintenance work.

Good communication skills and able to work effectively with other departments.
