Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking a dedicated Lab Technician to join our school and support the smooth operation of science laboratories.

You will prepare equipment, assist teachers, ensure safety, manage inventory, and maintain records to support Biology, Chemistry, and Physics lessons.

Immediate availability is highly preferred, and prior lab or school experience is an advantage.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) or related field.
• Experience in a laboratory or school environment is an advantage.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and chemical handling.
• Good organizational and time management skills.
• Available to join IMMEDIATELY.
• Basic IT skills (Microsoft Office, inventory systems).

Responsibilities

Laboratory Preparation & Support

• Prepare and set up equipment, chemicals, and materials for science experiments (Biology, Chemistry, Physics).
• Assist teachers during practical lessons when required.
• Ensure all equipment is clean, functional, and ready for use.

Health & Safety Compliance

• Maintain high standards of laboratory safety in accordance with school policies and international safety standards.
• Properly store, handle, and dispose of chemicals and hazardous materials.
• Conduct regular safety checks on lab equipment.
• Ensure availability of safety equipment (e.g., goggles, fire extinguishers, first aid kits).

Inventory & Procurement

• Monitor stock levels of lab supplies and chemicals.
• Maintain accurate inventory records.
• Prepare purchase requests and liaise with suppliers for lab materials.

Maintenance & Organization

• Keep laboratories clean, organized, and well-maintained.
• Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting of lab equipment.
• Label and store chemicals according to safety regulations.

Administrative Support

• Maintain records of experiments, equipment usage, and safety data sheets (SDS).
• Support science teachers with lesson preparation and resource planning.
• Assist in organizing science-related events, fairs, or exhibitions.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) or related field.
• Previous experience in a laboratory or school environment is an advantage.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and chemical handling.
• Good organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
