Job summary

Givaudan in Malaysia’s Kelana Jaya invites a Lab Technician to join our vibrant lab team. You will prepare samples, support product development, and ensure accurate documentation in line with EH&S policies.

With a degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or Biology and 2–3 years in a lab setting, you will thrive on flavour evaluation, meticulous testing, and collaboration with technologists to drive innovation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in a related science field with lab exposure.
• 2–3 years in a laboratory, food applications, or production setting advantageous.
• Good written and verbal communication with basic PC skills.
• Basic knowledge of lab equipment, documentation, chemical handling, and safety practices.
• Interest in tasting and evaluating flavours and ingredients.
• Attention to detail with a proactive learning mindset.

Responsibilities

• Prepare basic application samples for customer briefs and product development needs.
• Maintain recipes records and documentation in the company database.
• Keep an organized stock of lab raw materials for efficient work.
• Maintain a collection of flavours for quick response to briefs.
• Assist technologists on complex projects when requested.
• Evaluate raw materials, new technologies, and flavours, providing feedback.
• Take part in EH&S activities including safety training and compliance.
• Maintain a safe, clean lab environment and report hazards promptly.

Lab Technician - Your future position?

As the Lab Technician , you will follow established procedures and guidelines to prepare Food & Beverages samples and participate in evaluations and testing, supporting effective application processes according to business goals and EH&S policies. In this role, you will be based in Kelana Jaya, Selangor and will report to the Technical Manager.

Product Development

• Prepare basic application samples as requested for customer briefs, Product development needs, technology performance assessments, quality control standards, and physical testing.
• Maintain recipes records and documentation in company database software.
• Ensure an organised stock of raw materials in the lab, facilitating efficient product preparation.
• Maintain a collection of flavours in the lab for immediate response to briefs and application requests.
• Assist technologists in complex projects when requested.
• Participate in the evaluation of raw materials, new technologies, and flavours in food products, providing feedback on flavour performance.

Environmental Health & Safety

• Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly laboratory environment in accordance with EH&S policies and good laboratory practices.
• Participate in safety training and adhere to established EH&S guidelines during daily tasks and activities.
• Report any safety hazards or concerns to supervisors, contributing to a culture of safety within the lab.

Your Professional Profile Includes

• Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related discipline. Open to Diploma or SPM graduates too.
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a laboratory, food applications, production, or related environment are advantageous.
• Good written and verbal communication skills with basic proficiency in standard PC applications
• Basic knowledge of laboratory equipment, research documentation, chemical handling, and safety/hygiene practices
• Passionate in tasting and evaluating flavours and ingredients
• Strong attention to detail, with a proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
