Job summary

Fgv Iffco Sdn Bhd is seeking a Laboratory/Research Assistant to support R&D activities for palm oil and related products. This role involves basic lab testing under supervision, sample preparation, and meticulous data recording.

Fresh graduates with a Diploma in Chemistry or related fields are welcome. Knowledge of SAP and GMP/HACCP principles is advantageous, with a strong emphasis on accuracy and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Assist in R&D activities for palm oil and related products.
• Carry out basic laboratory testing and analysis under supervision.
• Support experiments, product trials and sample preparation.
• Prepare chemicals, reagents and materials for testing and trials.
• Record test results and data accurately in laboratory records.
• Maintain proper documentation for experiments and reports.
• Ensure cleanliness, organization and housekeeping of the laboratory.
• Report any malfunction or abnormal condition of equipment.
• Update test results or inventory in SAP when required.
• Prepare samples (up to 20kg) per SOPs and assist in pilot plant activities.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• To assist in Research & Development (R&D) activities for palm oil and related products.
• To carry out basic laboratory testing and analysis under supervision.
• To support experiments, product trials, and sample preparation for new product development.
• To prepare chemicals, reagents, and materials required for testing and trials.
• To record test results, observations, and data accurately in laboratory records or systems.
• To assist in maintaining proper documentation for experiments and reports.
• To ensure cleanliness, organization, and proper housekeeping of the laboratory.
• To ensure laboratory equipment is used properly and to report any malfunction or abnormal condition.
• To comply with safety requirements, Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and company procedures at all times.
• To update test results, inventory records, or sample tracking information in the SAP system when required.
• To prepare samples (up to 20kg) requested by customers in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• To support pilot plant or production trial activities when necessary.
• To perform any other duties assigned by the superior from time to time.

Requirements

• Basic knowledge of palm oil products and testing (e.g., FFA, moisture, etc.).
• Exposure to laboratory instruments and testing procedures during studies.
• Familiarity with SAP system, Microsoft Excel, or basic data entry/reporting tools.
• Understanding of basic quality systems such as GMP, HACCP, or ISO.
• Strong interest in R&D, innovation, and product development.
