Job summary

OMI Sdn Bhd in Malaysia is seeking a kitchen assistant to assist with daily food preparation, cooking and plating according to OMI's recipes, portioning and presentation standards. You will prepare ingredients, wash, cut, portion, and store items, and support chefs during peak service.

You must follow quality and food safety standards, keep work areas clean, follow FIFO, monitor stocks, assist with receiving and storing supplies, and handle equipment safely. Meal provided.

Qualifications

• Prior kitchen experience preferred.
• Basic understanding of food safety standards.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily food preparation, cooking and plating according to OMI's recipes, portioning and presentation standards.
• Prepare ingredients including washing, cutting, portioning and storing food items.
• Assist chefs and senior kitchen team members during daily operations and peak service periods.
• Ensure food is prepared and served according to the restaurant's quality and food safety standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen, workstations, equipment and food preparation areas.
• Follow proper food handling, storage, labelling and FIFO procedures.
• Monitor ingredients and inform the supervisor or chef when stocks are running low.
• Assist with receiving, checking and storing food supplies and ingredients when required.
• Handle kitchen equipment and utensils properly and safely.
• Follow all restaurant SOPs, food safety requirements and workplace safety procedures.
