Job summary

OMI Japanese Restaurant is seeking a motivated junior kitchen team member in Malaysia. You will assist in daily food preparation, cooking, plating, and maintain cleanliness and food safety standards.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily food preparation, cooking and plating according to recipes and standards.
• Prepare ingredients including washing, cutting, portioning and storing food items.
• Assist chefs and senior kitchen team during daily operations and peak service periods.
• Ensure food is prepared and served according to quality and food safety standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen, workstations and equipment.
• Follow food handling, storage, labeling and FIFO procedures.
• Monitor ingredients and inform supervisor when stocks are running low.
• Assist with receiving, checking and storing food supplies when required.
• Handle kitchen equipment and utensils properly and safely.
• Follow all SOPs and workplace safety procedures.

Job description

As part of the kitchen team at OMI Japanese Restaurant, you will assist in daily food preparation, cooking, kitchen operations and maintaining cleanliness and food safety standards. This position is suitable for candidates who enjoy working in a fast-paced restaurant environment and are willing to learn.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with daily food preparation, cooking and plating according to OMI's recipes, portioning and presentation standards.
• Prepare ingredients including washing, cutting, portioning and storing food items.
• Assist chefs and senior kitchen team members during daily operations and peak service periods.
• Ensure food is prepared and served according to the restaurant's quality and food safety standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen, workstations, equipment and food preparation areas.
• Follow proper food handling, storage, labelling and FIFO procedures.
• Monitor ingredients and inform the supervisor or chef when stocks are running low.
• Assist with receiving, checking and storing food supplies and ingredients when required.
• Handle kitchen equipment and utensils properly and safely.
• Follow all restaurant SOPs, food safety requirements and workplace safety procedures.

About you

• Previous experience in a restaurant, café or F&B kitchen will be an advantage but is not compulsory.
