Job summary

Coherent Corp. Malaysia is seeking a Laboratory Analyst to support routine laboratory inspection and material analysis activities, including XRF testing, cross-section analysis, X-ray inspection and DSC analysis, with 100% on-site work in Ipoh.

You will assist engineers in production and RMA failure analysis, including sample preparation, VMI, lapping, and cross-sectioning, and prepare FAI reports and inspection results, following SOPs and quality procedures.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience and basic knowledge of laboratory equipment, material analysis, measurement, and inspection techniques.
• Certification awarded upon completion (QUEST at International University Perak).

Responsibilities

• Support routine laboratory inspection and material analysis activities (XRF, cross-section, X-ray, DSC).
• Assist engineers in production and RMA failure analysis; prepare samples, VMI, lapping, targeted cross-sectioning; draft FAI reports.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Responsible for supporting routine laboratory inspection and material analysis activities, including XRF testing, cross-section analysis, construction analysis, X-ray inspection and DSC analysis.
• The role also supports engineers in production and RMA failure analysis, including sample preparation, VMI, lapping, and targeted cross-sectioning, as well as preparation of FAI reports and inspection results.

Education & Experience

• Minimum 5 years of experience and basic knowledge of laboratory equipment, material analysis, measurement, and inspection techniques.
• Successfully completed and passed the required upskilling program, with certification awarded upon completion (from International University Perak QUEST).

Skills

• Basic knowledge of laboratory equipment, material analysis, measurement, and inspection techniques.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel & Word, for data recording and report preparation.
• Basic understanding of cross-sectioning, microscopy, or material characterization is an advantage, but training can be provided.
• Able to follow SOPs, work instructions, safety requirements, and quality procedures.
• Good attention to detail and able to perform precise sample preparation, measurement, and inspection work.

Working Condition

• This is a 100% on-site position.
• Work is primarily performed in a MA lab.
• Required to follow all applicable laboratory safety, EHS, and workplace procedures.
