Job summary

Coherent Corp. is seeking a technically skilled engineer to support product engineering in optical device testing and mass production environments.

You will assist with yield targets, scrap cost control, and debug accuracy improvements while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The role requires a diploma in engineering and at least 5 years of related experience, plus familiarity with test instruments and circuit diagrams.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Engineering with relevant electrical/electronic/optical focus.
• Experience in optical device testing or repair in mass production.
• Familiar with circuit diagrams and electronics fundamentals.
• Experience with test equipment such as spectrum analyzers/oscilloscopes.

Responsibilities

• Assist product engineer to achieve yield targets and scrap cost targets; support PE evaluations and analyses.
• Contribute to BOM cost improvements, test time reductions, and yield improvement efforts.
• Verify specs and qualifications, assist with OBA failure analysis and ROHS/debug activities.
• Improve debug accuracy through training and buddy programs; monitor scrap costs by product.
• Ensure safety, ESD, cleanroom and housekeeping compliance; work with minimal supervision.

• Support for PE evaluations, projects and analysis , BOM cost improvements evaluations (over temp), Test time reduction projects, Prime Yield improvement , Spec file verifications / qualifications (include Partest) and Support and confirm OBA failure and analysis. ROHS debug and failure analysis. Real Time debug – debug findings reports.
• Improvement in debug accuracy through training with PE buddy (RWK, NTF accuracy; retest reduction opportunities).
• Scrap Cost Monitoring by Product.
• Ensure compliance to Safety, ESD, Cleanroom and Housekeeping guidelines.
• Able to work with minimum supervision.
• Performing any other duties as directed by the immediate superior from time to time.
• Derive Continual Improvement. Practice Risk Base Thinking in planning and execution of task.
• Compliance to ISO Requirements, company rules & regulations, applicable codes etc.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Diploma in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Optoelectronics or Telecommunications).
• At least 5 years of experience in optical device testing/repair related industry and in mass production environment.
• Familiar with basic knowledge and principle of optical devices.
• Candidates without appropriate experience may be accepted by the hiring manager subject to job nature, availability of buddy, duration of learning, etc
• With good computer literacy, good communication skill and reporting of information/ data.
• Familiar with circuit diagrams and a strong background in Electronics.
• Familiarity with test instruments (Spectrum Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, etc.)
• Experience in troubleshooting PCBA preferred.
• Can work independently and work with support teams as needed.
• Has basic knowledge of optical circuit, circuit analysis, problem solving and master the use of optical module test instruments.
