Job summary

AUSTRAL TECHMSMITH SDN BHD is seeking a Surveyor to conduct land surveys using total stations, GPS, and levels on projects in Kedah.

You will interpret construction drawings, set out reference points, maintain survey records, and collaborate with engineers and contractors while ensuring safety and quality. Fresh graduates with practical training may be considered.

Willingness to travel to project sites and hold a valid driving licence are required, with CIDB certifications an added advantage.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in land surveying or related field.
• 2–3 years of relevant construction/infra experience; fresh grads considered.
• Proficient with total station, Auto Level, GPS/GNSS, and AutoCAD.
• Able to read engineering drawings and coordinate with teams.

Job description

Conduct land surveys using total stations, GPS, levels and other surveying instruments.

Interpret construction drawing, plans and specification to set out reference points and markers.

Establish horizontal and vertical control points for construction activities.

Monitor and record site levels, contour, boundaries and structures.

Collaborate with engineers, architects, and contractors to provide technical input during planning and execution phases.

Prepare and maintain accurate surveying documentation, field notes, and reports.

Verify as-built conditions and assist in resolving discrepancies between design and actual construction.

Ensure compliance with safety regulations and legal boundaries during all surveying activities.

Conduct quantity take-offs and assist in earthwork or volume calculations if required.

Update and maintain survey databases, maps, and site plans.

Any assignment received from HOD.

Qualifications & Requirements

Diploma or Degree in Land Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering or a related field.

At least 2–3 years of relevant experience in construction, infrastructure, Oil & Gas or related projects. Fresh graduates with relevant practical training may also be considered.

Good working knowledge of Total Station, Auto Level and GPS/GNSS surveying equipment.

Familiarity with AutoCAD and the ability to read and interpret engineering/construction drawings.

Knowledge of coordinate systems, levelling, setting-out and as-built surveying.

Strong attention to detail and good numerical skills.

Able to work independently as well as in a team.

Willing to work on-site and travel to project locations when required.

Good communication and coordination skills.

Able to work under project schedules and meet deadlines.

Possess a valid driving licence.

Candidates with relevant CIDB/industry certifications will have an added advantage.
