Job summary

Fluxion Engineering Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a Junior Piping Design Engineer based in Puchong, Selangor. The role focuses on developing piping designs, 2D/3D drawings, and coordinating with project teams to meet client specifications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical/Process/Cold Engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Develop piping design drawings, 2D isometrics and 3D plant models using CAD software.
  • Prepare plant pipe routing and layout designs for various process and industrial facilities.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project teams and clients to translate requirements into piping designs.
  • Prepare technical documentation including drawings, BOMs and fabrication details.
  • Read and interpret P&ID, GA, E&I drawings and other engineering docs.
  • Perform 3D modelling and pipe stress considerations per ASME B31.3 / B31.1.
  • Coordinate with Electrical/Instrumentation for 3D model integration.
  • Conduct design checks and quality reviews to ensure model accuracy and reliability.
  • Travel for site visits and project coordination as needed.
  • Maintain organized design records and project files.

About the role

Fluxion Engineering Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a talented Junior Piping Design Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. This is a full-time position based in Puchong, Selangor, offering an excellent opportunity to launch your career in engineering drafting and design. As a Junior Piping Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing, creating and refining piping systems and designs that are essential to our projects. You will work closely with fellow engineers and project teams to ensure all designs meet technical specifications, safety standards and client requirements. This role is instrumental in supporting the delivery of high-quality optimising piping solutions across our diverse project portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and create detailed piping design drawings, specifications, 2D isometric drawings and 3D plant models using industry-standard CAD software.

Prepare neat, organised and optimised plant pipe routing, piping arrangement and layout design for process plants, oleochemical plants, fatty acid plants, refineries, fractionation plants, petrochemical facilities, oil and gas plants, power generation facilities and industrial plants.

Collaborate with senior engineers, project teams, clients and other disciplines to understand project requirements and translate them into practical piping designs.

Prepare technical documentation, including piping arrangement drawings, isometric drawings, fabrication details, bill of materials and piping construction documentation.

Read, interpret and develop designs based on P&ID, General Arrangement drawings, equipment drawings, E&I drawings and other engineering documents.

Perform 3D modelling of piping systems, static equipment and dynamic equipment based on GA drawings and project requirements.

Pipe routing design with consideration for plant operation, maintenance access, constructability, safety and installation requirements.

Apply knowledge of flowmeters, instruments, valves, pipe fittings and piping component installation rules during design development.

Develop piping design details such as battery limit piping arrangements, pipe support design, support locations and related engineering details.

Coordinate cable tray routing and related 3D modelling activities with Electrical and Instrumentation engineers.

Conduct design checks, clash checks, error checks and quality control reviews to ensure model accuracy and design reliability.

Conduct design calculations and support pipe stress analysis in accordance with relevant codes and standards such as ASME B31.3 and ASME B31.1.

Review and analyse existing piping systems to identify improvement and optimisation opportunities.

Participate in technical reviews and provide input to improve design quality, efficiency and project deliverables.

Liaise with clients, contractors, vendors and stakeholders to clarify design intent, resolve technical issues and support project execution.

Maintain accurate and organised design documentation, drawing records and project files in accordance with client and project requirements.

Support project management activities to meet project schedules, documentation quality requirements and client expectations.

Travel when required to support site visits, design reviews, 3D model reviews and project coordination with clients or plant owners locally and overseas.

Continuously update technical knowledge and stay informed of industry best practices, codes, standards and emerging technologies.

What We Are Looking For

Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

Proficiency in CAD software, with experience in AutoCAD, CADWorx or similar 2D and 3D piping design tools.

Knowledge of 3D plant modelling, piping layout design, piping arrangement drawings and isometric drawing preparation.

Understanding of piping design principles, piping materials, pipe fittings, valves, instruments and common piping installation practices.

Ability to read and understand P&ID, GA drawings, equipment drawings, E&I drawings and engineering documentation.

Knowledge of relevant piping codes and standards, including ASME B31.3, ASME B31.1, ANSI and ISO standards.

Basic knowledge of pipe stress analysis, pipe support design and piping flexibility requirements would be an advantage.

Experience in plant modelling for process piping, utilities, steam and condensate, oil and gas piping or similar industrial systems would be an advantage.

Familiarity with clash checking, model review, design checking and quality control of engineering drawings and 3D models.

Strong technical drawing and documentation skills with good attention to detail.

Strong analytical, coordination and problem-solving abilities.

Good communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, clients, contractors and project teams.

Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.

Willingness to learn, travel when required and develop professionally within the engineering industry.

Preferred experience: Previous internship, project experience or working experience in piping design, plant modelling, engineering drafting or 3D piping design software.
