Piping Designer – Modular Process Skids / Oil & Gas Water Treatment
We are looking for a skilled 3D Piping Designer with experience in modular process skid and piping system design to join our engineering team in Kuala Lumpur. In this role, you will create detailed 3D piping models, general arrangements, isometrics, and fabrication drawings for oil & gas process packages and water treatment projects, including hydrocarbon treatment systems.
You’ll work closely with mechanical and process engineers to transform P&IDs and design concepts into fully detailed, constructible models used for fabrication and installation. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to innovative, sustainable treatment technologies across Malaysia and Australia.
Develop comprehensive 3D piping models and associated drawings for skid-mounted systems, piping assemblies, and filtration or treatment units using Inventor, Autodesk Plant 3D, AVEVA PDMS, or equivalent 3D design software.
Generate and manage P&IDs, GA drawings, piping layouts, isometrics, spool drawings, and fabrication details.
Work from process flow diagrams (PFDs) and engineering specifications to produce accurate and coordinated piping designs.
Ensure equipment, valves, instruments, and supports are accurately represented and integrated within compact modular layouts.
Collaborate with engineers, fabricators, and site teams to ensure constructability, accessibility, and alignment between design intent and build execution.
Apply and maintain compliance with ASME B31.3, AS/NZS 4041, API, and ISO standards in all piping design deliverables.
Manage drawing registers, revision control, and documentation to meet company QA/QC and project requirements.
Support fabrication and commissioning teams through design clarifications, as-built updates, and redline markups.
Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Piping Design, or related discipline.
5+ years’ experience in 3D piping design, ideally within the oil & gas, water treatment, or process plant industries.
Proficient in Inventor, Autodesk Plant 3D, AVEVA PDMS, for modular skid or piping layout design.
Strong understanding of piping standards, material specifications, valve types, and instrumentation integration.
Experience in skid-based system design, package layout optimization, and fabrication drawings for modular units.
Knowledge of pressure piping codes (ASME B31.3, AS/NZS 4041) and mechanical design principles.
Excellent coordination, attention to detail, and ability to work across disciplines in a fast-paced project environment.
A proactive team player with strong problem-solving and communication skills.
