Job summary

Verde Design Lab (M) Sdn Bhd 苗子設計坊 in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Junior Interior Designer to join our design team on a full-time basis. You will contribute to concept development, space planning and the execution of interior design projects across residential and commercial sectors.

You will assist senior designers by producing presentations, floor plans, renderings and technical drawings, while coordinating with architects and contractors to ensure on-time project delivery.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related design discipline
• Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) or similar applications
• Strong understanding of interior design principles, colour theory, spatial planning and material knowledge
• Excellent visual communication and presentation skills with an eye for detail
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team whilst managing individual tasks independently
• Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects
• Creative problem-solving abilities and a willingness to explore innovative design solutions
• Clear written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of Mandarin or Malay is advantageous
• Enthusiasm for interior design trends, sustainable design practices and contemporary aesthetics
• Portfolio demonstrating academic projects, personal design work or internship experience

Responsibilities

• Assist in the development of design concepts and space planning for residential and commercial projects
• Create design presentations, mood boards and visual renderings to communicate design ideas to clients and stakeholders
• Conduct site visits and measurements to gather information for project requirements and spatial planning
• Produce technical drawings, floor plans and specifications using design software and CAD applications
• Research and source materials, finishes, furniture and fixtures that align with project briefs and client budgets
• Collaborate with senior designers, architects and contractors to ensure seamless project delivery
• Prepare detailed project documentation and maintain accurate project records
• Support the design team in meeting project deadlines and maintaining quality standards
• Attend client meetings and present design proposals under the guidance of senior team members

This is a full-time position offering an exciting opportunity to launch your career in interior design whilst working alongside experienced professionals in a creative and collaborative environment.
