Job summary

Verde Design Lab (M) Sdn Bhd 苗子設計坊 in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a motivated Interior Design Intern to join our design team. This full-time internship offers hands-on experience from concept to project completion across residential, commercial and hospitality sectors.

You will assist experienced designers, learn design software, create mood boards, site measurements and client presentations while gaining exposure to real client projects.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an recognised Interior Design degree/diploma.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite or similar.
• Strong visual and creative sense with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior designers in developing concepts and mood boards.
• Conduct research on trends, materials, colours and spatial planning.
• Prepare technical drawings, floor plans and elevations.
• Create 3D visuals and renderings for client presentations.
• Liaise with clients, contractors and suppliers for information.
• Participate in site visits and take measurements.
• Support project documentation and file management.
• Contribute ideas during design reviews.
• Learn interior design methodologies and project management.

About the role

Verde Design Lab (M) Sdn Bhd 苗子設計坊 is seeking an enthusiastic and creative Interior Design Intern to join our dynamic design team in Kuala Lumpur. This is a full-time position that offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in the interior design industry whilst working alongside experienced design professionals. As an intern, you will be exposed to all aspects of the design process, from concept development through to project completion, and will contribute to real client projects that shape spaces across residential, commercial and hospitality sectors. This role is based in our Kuala Lumpur office and will provide you with invaluable hands-on experience in a collaborative and innovative design environment.

What you'll be doing

• Assisting senior designers in developing design concepts and mood boards for client projects
• Conducting research on design trends, materials, colour palettes and spatial planning techniques
• Preparing technical drawings, floor plans and elevations using design software
• Creating 3D visualisations and renderings to present design proposals to clients
• Liaising with clients, contractors and suppliers to gather information and specifications
• Participating in site visits and taking measurements to inform design decisions
• Supporting the team with project documentation, file management and administrative tasks
• Contributing ideas during team brainstorming sessions and design reviews
• Learning best practices in interior design methodology and project management

What we're looking for

• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a recognised degree or diploma programme in Interior Design or a related field
• Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite or similar programmes
• Strong visual and creative skills with a keen eye for detail, colour, texture and spatial composition
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and take constructive feedback
• Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
• A genuine passion for interior design and commitment to professional development
• Knowledge of building codes, safety standards and sustainable design practices is advantageous
