Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking a Junior PostgreSQL Database Administrator to join its Kuala Lumpur team, supporting PostgreSQL PaaS on Google Cloud and Azure.

You will handle day-to-day DB administration, performance tuning, backups, monitoring, and scripting (Unix, PHP, Python), with on-call duties.

Requires at least 3 years PostgreSQL experience, cloud familiarity, and a formal IT degree or PostgreSQL training.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years PostgreSQL DBA experience.
• Hands-on with Google Cloud or Azure cloud for PostgreSQL PaaS
• Experience in database administration, maintenance, troubleshooting
• Experience in performance tuning and SQL query optimization
• Experience in backup/recovery and disaster recovery planning
• Experience in incident, problem and change management
• Knowledge of HA solutions and capacity planning
• Experience with shell scripting (Unix), PHP or Python
• Experience with monitoring and on-call rotation

Responsibilities

• Database Administration support with main focus PostgreSQL databases on Google cloud or Azure cloud.
• Database Maintenance, housekeeping, troubleshooting.
• Identify and resolve database performance issues, including tuning SQL queries, optimizing indexing, and implementing necessary database changes.
• Incident, problem and change management of database-related incidents and problems, both in collaboration with other technical teams.
• Provide operational support, including capacity planning, system performance analysis, and resource utilization monitoring.
• Develop and maintain documentation related to database administration procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps.
• Installation, configuration and lifecycle migrations/upgrades and patch management
• Conduct ongoing monitoring and proactive management of database systems to ensure high availability and performance.
• Support database backup and recovery activities, ensuring appropriate backup strategies and disaster recovery plans are in place.
• SQL (PLSQL) database programming
• Unix, PHP, python shell scripting
• Participate in an on-call rotation schedule to ensure 24/7 availability and response to critical incidents.
• Implement and maintain PostgreSQL disaster recovery and high availability solutions.
• Ensure compliance with data protection regulations.
• At least 3 years of experience working in PostgreSQL database administration with basic skills on Google or Azure Cloud

As a Junior PostgreSQL Database Administrator, you will be a part of a growing international team based in Kuala Lumpur Center mainly supporting PostgreSQL PaaS subscriptions on Google cloud and on Azure cloud. We are seeking candidates with wide range of expertise and skills in PostgreSQL PaaS cloud database support such as day-to-day administration, performance tuning, monitoring, Backup/restore and SQL programming know-how.

Key Activities:

• Database Administration support with main focus PostgreSQL databases on Google cloud or Azure cloud.
