As a Database Administrator, you will be a part of a growing international team based in Kuala
Lumpur Center supporting various database flavours (PostgreSQL) on Google and Azure clouds. We
are seeking candidates with wide range of expertise and skills in database field such as day-to-day
administration, performance tuning, monitoring and SQL programming know-how. Preference will be
given to overlapping skills across database flavours and Cloud support experience.
If necessary, you will help application responsible to migrate away from Oracle to PostgeSQL on
Cloud ( eg. CloudSQL) or from Sybase to Oracle or PostgeSQL on Cloud.
Key activities (approx. 6-10)*:
TASK LIST FOR THE ROLE OF Database Administrator
- Database Administration support with focus on PostgreSQL in Cloud (Google or Azure)
- Database Maintenance, housekeeping, troubleshooting.
- Identify and resolve database performance issues, including tuning SQL queries, optimizing indexing, and implementing necessary database changes.
- Incident, problem and change management of database-related incidents and problems, both in collaboration with other technical teams.
- Provide operational support, including capacity planning, system performance analysis, and
- Develop and maintain documentation related to database administration procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps.
- Installation, configuration and lifecycle migrations/upgrades and patch management
- Conduct ongoing monitoring and proactive management of database systems to ensure high availability and performance.
- Support database backup and recovery activities, ensuring appropriate backup strategies and disaster recovery plans are in place.

Formal education:
- Official acknowledged university / college qualifications
- Certified corresponding post education or training in database administration of various relational databases or NoSQL databases
Specialist knowledge (work experience, further qualification)
Qualifications/Skills Essential Skills Sufficient and proven experience in PostgreSQL, in particular:
- good familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure and Google)
- problem analysis resolution and error debugging including skills in raising support requests with vendors.
- database performance tuning (configuration related and application code tuning)
- database installation and configuration
- data transfer/extract features ( backup tools in PostgreSQL)
- space management analysis and object reorganization
- database patching and migrations
- database user management (authorisation and authentication)
- analysis of database performance reports
- Advanced unix shell scripting, PHP or Python programming skills
- Advanced SQL (PLSQL) database programming (stored procedures , functions and packages)
Support databases in Google Cloud Platform and on Microsoft Azure additional preferred Skills (technical, methodology and business):
- Knowledge of at least two of the following technologies: Sybase ASE, Cassandra, Redis Cache is a plus.
- Knowledge in Oracle’s APEX setup and programming
- Knowledge in Oracle 23c is preferred
- support migrations from Oracle to PostgeSQL platform in cloud ( eg CloudSQL)
- Experience in software methodology, processes and quality assurance
- knowledge in the area of IT security
- Profound interest in new technologies and self-motivated troubleshooting
- Database Administration, backup/recovery and Monitoring of Oracle 19c and PostgreSQL ( eg. CloudSQL PaaS)
- Oracle OEM installation and registration of targets and their OEM monitoring
- RMAN backup and recovery and RMAN cloning and duplication
- Oracle's HA availability solutions (Data Guard and RAC)
