Job summary

Pepper Labs is seeking a Junior AI Engineer in Kuala Lumpur. This full-time role offers a path to grow in AI/ML engineering, collaborating with experienced professionals to develop and optimise AI solutions across the product suite.

You will work on model development, data preprocessing, and deployment support, while expanding your knowledge of TensorFlow, PyTorch, and cloud platforms in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong foundations in ML concepts and frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn).
• Proficiency in Python with solid data structures and software design basics.
• Familiarity with NumPy and Pandas for data manipulation.
• Basic statistics and linear algebra applied to ML; Git for version control.
• Excellent communication; able to work independently and in teams.
• Preferred: exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) and SQL basics.

Pepper Labs is seeking a talented Junior AI Engineer to join our growing team in Kuala Lumpur. This is a full-time position offering an excellent opportunity to launch your career in artificial intelligence and machine learning engineering. You will work alongside experienced professionals to develop, implement, and optimise AI solutions that drive innovation across our product suite. This role is based in Kuala Lumpur and offers the chance to contribute meaningfully to cutting-edge AI projects whilst developing your technical expertise in a collaborative and supportive environment.

What you'll be doing

• Developing and implementing machine learning models and algorithms to solve real-world business problems
• Writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code in Python, Java, or other relevant programming languages
• Collaborating with senior engineers and data scientists to design and architect AI solutions
• Preprocessing, analysing, and visualising data to support model development and evaluation
• Testing and debugging AI models to ensure accuracy, performance, and reliability
• Participating in code reviews and contributing to continuous improvement of development practices
• Documenting technical specifications, methodologies, and implementation details
• Staying updated with the latest advancements in AI and machine learning technologies
• Supporting the deployment and monitoring of AI models in production environments

What we're looking for

• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Possess AWS Technical Certifications.
• Strong foundational knowledge of machine learning concepts, algorithms, and frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn
• Proficiency in Python programming with solid understanding of data structures and software design principles
• Familiarity with data manipulation libraries such as NumPy and Pandas
• Basic understanding of statistics and linear algebra as applied to machine learning
• Experience with version control systems, particularly Git
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently as well as in a team
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly
• Preferred experience: exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure), experience with SQL databases, or contributions to open-source AI projects
