Job summary

CEIC Data Malaysia is seeking a skilled Software/Data Engineer to design, build and optimize data processing pipelines and Java-based services. You will translate business requirements into technical solutions, craft technical docs, and contribute to project delivery plans.

The role demands strong coding, QA, and collaboration across departments and regions. We value experience with MySQL, AWS Aurora, MongoDB, and microservices, plus CI tools like Jenkins.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology/Software Engineering with strong computing background.
• Object Oriented programming experience: minimum 3 years in Java.
• Solid experience in MySQL, AWS Aurora and MongoDB.
• Experience in Data Engineering / Data Pipelines / Data processing streaming technologies.
• Experience in WildFly.
• Experience in VSTO Excel add-in development.
• Experience with IDE tools such as Injelij.
• Experience in Windows 10/11 and Office.
• Familiar with Source Control tool GIT.
• Familiarity with AWS: Lambda, SQS, S3.
• Experience with Micro Services architecture and development.
• Continuous Integration software: Jenkins.
• Excellent communicator and ability to work with teams across regions and time zones.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; Cantonese a plus.
• 3-5 years in a similar role expected.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Business Analyst to define, refine, develop, test and deliver against functional requirements.
• Translate functional into technical requirements.
• Develop technical documentation for engineers of varying skill level
• Provide technical input to the project delivery plan, including sizing and estimation
• Ensure scrum team quality and support through code reviews and testing strategies
• Implement correct, performant and reliable code on schedule and per specification
• Determine code quality and test coverage; design and implement tests to ensure high quality
• Develop and maintain test automation efficiency and effectiveness
• Responsible for defect closure and root cause analysis to avoid regressions
• Drive continual improvement in quality and efficiency
• Collaborate with Support, Operations, Product and Engineering across departments
