Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking a Data Engineer to design and maintain scalable data pipelines, optimize ETL/ELT processes, and support AI initiatives. You will build robust cloud-based data infrastructure, ensure data quality and security, and collaborate with data scientists and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Proven experience as Data Engineer or similar role.
• Strong SQL and at least one programming language (Python, Java, or similar).
• Hands-on experience with data warehousing and data lake technologies (BigQuery, Hadoop, Spark).
• Experience designing and maintaining ETL/ELT processes and tools.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP) and their data services.
• Solid understanding of data modeling and database design principles.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Knowledge of end-to-end supply chain logistics is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and storage.
• Develop and optimize ETL/ELT processes to ensure data quality and consistency.
• Automate data workflows and implement monitoring for pipeline reliability.
• Architect and implement data storage solutions (data warehouses, data lakes, databases).
• Ensure data security, integrity, and regulatory compliance.
• Optimize storage structures and query performance for scalability and efficiency.
• Evaluate and implement modern data technologies to enhance infrastructure.
• Manage cloud-based data environments (GCP, BigQuery).
• Develop data documentation including metadata and data lineage.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, AI engineers, and stakeholders to translate data requirements.
• Communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Participate in code reviews and share knowledge on best practices.
• Continuously optimize data pipelines for performance and reliability.
• Troubleshoot data-related issues and monitor system performance.
• Prepare gold layer datasets for business use and develop dashboards with BI tools.
