Job summary

Guidewire Software in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a proactive Software Engineer to build scalable Java-based solutions for the property and casualty insurance domain. You will work on an established product suite, deliver user stories end-to-end, and contribute to automated tests and deployment pipelines.

You will collaborate with product managers, architects, and engineers across locations, participate in standups and planning, and continuously improve our data-driven, AI-aware workflow.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with core Java and service-based apps using Spring Boot.
• Experience delivering features in an agile team from design to release.
• 2+ years in enterprise software development.
• CI/CD experience with Jenkins, TeamCity, or GitHub Actions.
• Exposure to cloud services (AWS/GCP/Azure) and distributed systems.
• Strong problem-solving and concise English communication.

Responsibilities

• Learn business and technical problems; review and implement high-quality solutions.
• Independently deliver sprint-level user stories from design to deployment.
• Write high-quality code and automated tests for reliable deployments.
• Improve CI/CD and release workflows to reduce engineering toil.
• Participate in technical design discussions and own simple design elements.
• Collaborate with product managers and architects; participate in team rituals.
• Provide thoughtful code reviews and learn from feedback.
• Handle on-call rotations and incident responses using runbooks.
• Capture metrics and drive postmortem actions to improve reliability.
• Share learnings, mentor juniors, and contribute to continuous improvement.
