Job summary

A tech startup is looking for an IT Support Specialist in Selangor, Malaysia, to provide front-line support and maintain customers' IT environments. Qualifications

Job description

The standard operating hours for the role is 9am-6pm, Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities
  • Acting as the front line support for end customers.
  • Includes travelling to customers' premises to provide on-site support.
  • Keeping the customers' documentation up to date.
  • Monitoring the customers' IT operating environment, endpoints, servers, network devices and so on.
  • Maintain the customers' IT operating environment to a healthy state by adhering to procedures provided.
  • Support any Microsoft 365 related issues stemmed from the customers' environment.
  • To work on any ad-hoc tasks provided.
Technical skills
  • Understand how network traffic actually flows to an internal and external endpoint according to the OSI Model.
  • Have basic understanding of common IT knowledge domains such as networking, operating systems, common commands, hardware, storage, backup & recovery, security, virtualizations and so on.
  • Familiarity with Windows Administration.
  • Has experience on administering Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Minimum 2 years experience or proven to be equivalent in the field of IT Support.
Non-technical skills and requirements
  • Good work ethics and communication skills (Respectful, Responsible, Reliable, and have Good Integrity).
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Good teamwork and collaboration.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Punctuality and good time management.
  • Fluent in English, Mandarin (Language), and Malay (Language).
  • Owns a car, has valid driving license, and is fit to drive.
  • Ability to work outside normal working hours occasionally (will be paid OT).
  • Able to carry basic IT equipment.
Preferred qualifications and skills
  • Has certifications such as CompTIA A+ or CCNA.
  • Fundamental knowledge of cloud concepts.
  • Has experience self-hosting and maintaining FOSS projects.
  • Familiarity with MacOS and Linux administration.
  • Experience with monitoring tools.
  • Experience with ticketing systems.
