Job summary

The IT Officer will provide first and second-level support, manage hardware and software, handle network issues, security, and training, while contributing to IT planning and procurement.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimum 2–3 years of experience in IT support or help desk.
• Strong knowledge of Windows and/or Linux operating systems, basic networking, and cybersecurity principles.

Responsibilities

• Provide first and second-level technical support to end-users via phone, email, and in-person assistance.
• Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
• Troubleshoot network connectivity issues and resolve system performance problems.
• Manage user accounts, access permissions, and security protocols in accordance with policy.
• Perform regular system updates, patches, and security maintenance to protect data.
• Document and track IT incidents, requests, and resolutions using ticketing systems.
• Assist with IT infrastructure planning and hardware procurement processes.
• Conduct basic user training on software applications and IT best practices.
• Support backup and disaster recovery procedures to safeguard company data.
• Maintain IT equipment inventory and assist with asset management.

YB Woodwork Industry (M) Sdn Bhd is seeking a dedicated and skilled IT Officer to join our team in Simpang Renggam, Johor. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in supporting our organisation's technological infrastructure and ensuring seamless IT operations across all departments. As an IT Officer, you will be the backbone of our technical support services, responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimising our IT systems and networks. This position is essential to our business continuity and digital transformation initiatives, directly contributing to improved productivity and operational efficiency throughout the company.

Key responsibilities

What we're looking for

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in IT support or help desk role
• Strong knowledge of Windows and/or Linux operating systems
• Experience with network administration and basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
• Proficiency with IT ticketing and asset management systems
• Understanding of cybersecurity principles and data protection measures
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
• Relevant IT certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Associate, or equivalent are preferred
