Job summary

Cegal in Kuala Lumpur is expanding its 24/7 Operations hub and seeks IT Engineers with Network Operations experience to support mission-critical services for regional and international energy customers.

Role involves night shifts (11pm–7am) with weekend rotations and public holiday work. Requires hands-on experience with Check Point, Cisco routers/switches, Cisco ISE, and VPN/S DWAN skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years of relevant network design, implementation and operations experience.
• Relevant certifications.
• Fluent in spoken and written English.
• Fluent in spoken and written Malaysian (Malay).

Responsibilities

• Design, configuration, and implementation of network solutions
• Operational support of network components including configuration, patching, monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization
• Operation and support of network security components within LAN/WLAN environments (Cisco WLC, certificates, identity solutions such as Cisco ISE)
• Troubleshooting and support of LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, and firewall environments
• 3rd line customer support and incident resolution
• Implementation and support of IEEE 802.1X client authentication (wired and wireless)
• Collaboration with internal teams and external providers to ensure stable and secure network services
• Monitoring and proactive handling of alerts received from the installed technical environments.

Job description

IT Engineer - Network Operation

We are expanding our 24/7 Operations hub in Malaysia – our main Asian delivery centre – and are looking for skilled IT Engineers with experience in Network Operations. From Malaysia, you will support mission‑critical IT services for both regional and international energy customers, working closely with global teams across Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific.

As part of our the 24/7 operations team, working hours will be 11 pm – 7 am Monday – Friday, and part of the weekend shift rotation (5 am – 1 pm , 9 am–5 pm 11 pm–7 am). Work during public holidays will be required.

Work tasks and responsibilities

• Design, configuration, and implementation of network solutions
• Operational support of network components including configuration, patching, monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization
• Operation and support of network security components within LAN/WLAN environments (Cisco WLC, certificates, identity solutions such as Cisco ISE)
• Troubleshooting and support of LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, and firewall environments
• 3rd line customer support and incident resolution
• Implementation and support of IEEE 802.1X client authentication (wired and wireless)
• Collaboration with internal teams and external providers to ensure stable and secure network services
• Monitoring and proactive handling of alerts received from the installed technical environments.

Work experience from several areas within

• Hands‑on experience with Check Point firewalls, Cisco routing and switching, and Cisco ISE
• Experience with dynamic routing protocols (e.g. OSPF, BGP)
• Experience with connectivity towards 3rd‑party ISPs and knowledge of MPLS
• Experience with VPN solutions (IP‑VPN, SSL‑VPN, IPsec‑VPN)
• Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., Zabbix, NetFlow)
• Strong understanding of network monitoring and troubleshooting for:
• Cisco routing and switching
• Cisco Wireless (WLC)
• Check Point firewalls
• SD WAN Solutions
• Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in network design, implementation, and operations

Personal qualifications

• Reliable, responsible and independent
• Strong sense of ownership
• Actively engaged in improvement activities

Formal requirements

• Minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience.
• Relevant certifications.

• Fluent in spoken and written English.
• Fluent in spoken and written Malaysian.
