PERSOL Malaysia is seeking an experienced IoT & Automation Engineer (Manufacturing) to join our Pasir Gudang team. You will design, deploy, and support IoT and automation solutions across manufacturing sites to drive Industry 4.0 initiatives and cost optimization.
You will work on sensor networks, real-time dashboards, PLC/SCADA integration, and data analytics, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable performance and scalable infrastructure.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in IoT/ Automation in manufacturing environments.
- Strong PLC programming skills.
- Experience with industrial IoT platforms, protocols and standards.
- Knowledge of cloud IoT solutions and edge computing is desirable.
- Familiarity with industrial network security best practices and cybersecurity principles.

PERSOL Malaysia is seeking an experienced IoT & Automation Engineer (Manufacturing) to join our client's dynamic engineering team in Pasir Gudang, Johor. This is a full-time position that plays a critical role in driving digital transformation and operational excellence within the manufacturing sector.
As an IoT & Automation Engineer, you will be at the forefront of implementing cutting-edge Internet of Things (IoT) solutions and automation systems to optimise manufacturing processes, enhance productivity, and reduce operational costs. You will work on designing, developing, and deploying sophisticated IoT platforms and automation technologies that connect machines, systems, and processes across manufacturing facilities. This role is integral to our commitment to delivering innovative solutions that help our clients embrace Industry 4.0 and achieve competitive advantage in an increasingly digital manufacturing landscape.
Design, install, and maintain IoT sensor networks for mill and farm operations
Develop and maintain real-time dashboards for production KPI tracking, OEE monitoring, and downtime analytics across multiple sites.
Set up, manage, and maintain SQL databases for production, downtime, and sensor data.
Integrate IoT solutions with existing plant control systems, including Siemens PLC (S7-1200/1500, TIA Portal) and SCADA systems.
Source and evaluate hardware components such as sensors, gateways, and motor drivers in compliance with Engineering and Supply Chain procurement standards.
Standardize IoT and data architecture across feed mills, flour mills, and farms to ensure a common backend and database structure.
Support network and IT infrastructure requirements for IoT deployment, including cellular gateways, VPN connectivity, and dashboard access.
Provide production data analytics to support operational improvements, capacity planning, and investment decisions.
Troubleshoot automation and monitoring system issues across Group sites.
Collaborate closely with mill managers, production teams, Engineering, and Supply Chain personnel to prioritize and execute monitoring projects.
Prepare and maintain system documentation, wiring diagrams, system architecture drawings, and standard operating procedures.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline
Proven experience of 3-5 years working as an IoT Engineer, Automation Engineer, Embedded Systems or in a similar role within the manufacturing or industrial sector
Strong proficiency in PLC programming languages
Hands‑on experience with industrial IoT platforms, protocols, and communication standards
Solid understanding of electrical systems, control systems, and automation principles in manufacturing environments
Knowledge of cloud‑based IoT solutions and edge computing technologies is desirable
Familiarity with industrial network security best practices and cybersecurity principles
Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical information to non‑technical stakeholders
Willingness to travel to manufacturing sites for project implementation and support as required
Willing to travel extensively across Group sites in West Malaysia & East Malaysia.
