Job summary

Konan Design Sdn Bhd is a small design studio in Malaysia working on residential and light-commercial projects. We seek a fresh graduate interior designer to take concepts from sketches to construction-ready plans, creating layouts, finishes and details for site contractors.

You will join a collaborative team, develop concept sketches and drawings, coordinate with clients and trades, and expand skills in drafting, 3D modelling and on-site coordination.

Qualifications

• Diploma/degree in Interior Design or related field; portfolio welcomed.

Responsibilities

• Develop concept sketches, space plans, and material palettes matching client brief and site limits.
• Produce technical drawings, floor plans, elevations and 3D visuals for construction use.
• Attend client meetings, measure sites, monitor progress and coordinate with contractors on design intent.

Procurement & Quality

• Source materials and finishes, prepare simple cost comparisons, and manage supplier follow-ups for delivery timelines.
• Support quality checks at key milestones to ensure finishes match the approved design.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma or degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or a related field, or a portfolio demonstrating equivalent skills.
• Open to fresh graduates or candidates with internship experience, approximately 0 years expected.

Hard Skills & Knowledge

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and SketchUp or similar 3D modelling tools.
• Basic 3D rendering ability and familiarity with construction drawings and finishes.

Soft Skills & Qualities

• Clear communicator with a collaborative attitude when working with clients and tradespeople.
• Reliable time management, attention to detail, and a practical approach to solving issues on site.
