Job summary

GYD in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a dedicated Interior Design assistant who is pursuing or has completed a Diploma in Interior Design or related field. You will support senior designers, create AutoCAD drawings and 3D sketches, and help develop compelling space plans for diverse projects.

You will collaborate with clients and teams, using AutoCAD and SketchUp to visualize concepts, while applying color theory, materials knowledge, and presentation skills to communicate ideas effectively.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a Diploma in Interior Design or a related field.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD is essential for creating detailed technical drawings and plans.
• Demonstrated ability in space planning, with a focus on optimizing functionality and aesthetics.
• Experience with SketchUp for 3D modeling and visualization of interior spaces.
• Fluency in Mandarin, English, and Bahasa Malaysia is required to effectively communicate with clients and colleagues.
• Strong understanding of design principles, color theory, and material selection.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills to convey design concepts clearly.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and independently on assigned tasks.
• Eagerness to learn and adapt to new design trends and technologies in the interior design industry.
• A portfolio showcasing design projects and technical skills is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior designers in developing and executing interior design concepts, ensuring alignment with project goals and client preferences.
• Create detailed AutoCAD drawings, including space plans, elevations, sections, and construction details, adhering to industry standards and project specifications.
• Develop 3D models and renderings using SketchUp to visualize design concepts and present them effectively to clients and stakeholders.
• Conduct site visits and surveys to gather accurate measurements and assess existing conditions, providing valuable input for design development.
• Source and select appropriate materials, finishes, furniture, and fixtures, considering aesthetics, functionality, budget, and sustainability.
• Prepare presentation boards and material palettes to communicate design ideas and material selections clearly and concisely.
• Support the preparation of detailed specifications and schedules for interior finishes, fixtures, and equipment.
• Collaborate with contractors, suppliers, and other project stakeholders to ensure seamless execution of design plans and resolve any on-site issues.
• Maintain organized project files and documentation, including drawings, specifications, and correspondence.
• Stay updated on current design trends, materials, and technologies through research and industry events, contributing fresh ideas to the design team.
