Job summary

Wingspan International (M) Sdn Bhd is seeking a creative Interior Designer to lead concept development through to technical drawings and material selection for retail and commercial spaces.

You will craft mood boards, layout plans, 3D visualisations and detailed drawings, while refining designs to meet client requirements, budget and brand guidelines.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture or related discipline.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, 3ds Max or other design software.
• Strong space-planning, technical-drawing and 3D-visualisation skills.

Responsibilities

• Create high-quality 3D renderings that communicate the design intent effectively.
• Prepare accurate floor plans, elevations, sections, ceiling plans, lighting layouts and carpentry details.
• Select materials, finishes, furniture, lighting and colour schemes.
• Ensure designs are functional, buildable, cost-conscious and aligned with the client’s brand.
• Identify design or technical issues and propose practical solutions.
• Manage multiple design projects and revisions while meeting deadlines.

Job description

Wingspan International (M) Sdn Bhd is an established interior design & build company specialising in retail and commercial spaces. Since 1995, we have delivered more than 1,000 projects for leading local and international brands across Malaysia and overseas. We are looking for a creative, detail-oriented and commercially minded Interior Designer to join our team. You will be involved throughout the entire design lifecycle, from understanding the client’s requirements and developing the initial concept development to technical drawings and material selection.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Develop creative and practical interior concepts for retail stores, offices and commercial spaces
• Prepare mood boards, layout plans, design presentations, material palettes and 3D visualisations
• Refine designs based on client feedback, technical requirements and budget considerations
• Work with the Business Development team to understand project requirements, branding guidelines, operational needs and budget

Key Responsibilities

• Create high-quality 3D renderings that communicate the design intent effectively
• Prepare accurate floor plans, elevations, sections, ceiling plans, lighting layouts and custom carpentry details
• Select appropriate materials, finishes, furniture, lighting and colour schemes
• Ensure that proposed designs are functional, buildable, cost-conscious and aligned with the client’s brand
• Identify potential design or technical issues and recommend practical solutions
• Manage multiple design projects and revisions while meeting agreed deadlines
• Maintain organised and consistent records of drawings, specifications, material selections and design approvals
• Stay informed about current interior-design trends, materials, technology and construction practices

Requirements and Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture or a related discipline
• Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience is required
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, 3ds Max or other relevant design softwares
• Strong space-planning, technical-drawing and 3D-visualisation skills
• Strong knowledge of interior materials, finishes, carpentry details and construction methods
• Experience in retail or commercial design will be an advantage
• Strong communication skills in English are required. Proficiency in Mandarin will be considered an added advantage
• A strong portfolio demonstrating design thinking and technical competency is required
• Must possess your own transport
