Job summary

Vsconsultancy is seeking a dedicated Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Nurse in Johor Bahru District, Malaysia, for a full-time role. You will deliver evidence-based nursing care to critically ill patients as part of a multidisciplinary team, operating ICU equipment, and supporting families through critical periods.

The ideal candidate holds a Malaysian nursing licence with 2–3 years ICU experience and is comfortable with night, weekend, and holiday shifts.

Qualifications

• Active nursing licence to practise in Malaysia.
• 2–3 years of ICU/critical care experience.
• Proficiency with ICU equipment (ventilators, monitors, pumps).
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and respond to emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to critically ill patients in the ICU, including monitoring vital signs and administering medications.
• Assess and evaluate patient conditions regularly, reporting changes to the clinical team promptly.
• Maintain detailed patient records in accordance with healthcare regulations.
• Collaborate with doctors, allied health professionals and other nurses to develop care plans.
• Operate and troubleshoot ICU medical equipment and monitoring systems.
• Provide emotional support to patients and families during critical periods.
• Perform infection control and hygiene practices in the ICU.
• Respond promptly to emergencies and participate in resuscitation as required.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and ongoing professional development.
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols within the ICU.

About the role

seeking a dedicated and compassionate Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Nurse to join our healthcare team in Johor Bahru District, Johor. This is a full-time position that offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on patient care in one of the most critical healthcare settings. As an ICU Nurse, you will be at the forefront of delivering high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill patients, working as part of a multidisciplinary team committed to saving lives and promoting recovery.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to critically ill patients in the intensive care unit, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and performing essential nursing procedures
• Assess and evaluate patient conditions regularly, reporting changes to the clinical team promptly and accurately
• Maintain detailed and accurate patient records, ensuring all documentation is completed in accordance with healthcare regulations and protocols
• Collaborate with doctors, allied health professionals and other nurses to develop and implement individualised patient care plans
• Operate and troubleshoot complex medical equipment and monitoring systems used in critical care settings
• Provide emotional support and communication to patients and their families during critical periods
• Perform infection control and hygiene practices to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff
• Respond promptly to patient emergencies and participate in resuscitation efforts as required
• Contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives and participate in ongoing professional development activities
• Ensure adherence to all safety protocols, policies and procedures within the ICU environment

What we're looking for

• Registered Nurse qualification with a valid nursing licence to practise in Malaysia
• Minimum of 2-3 years' experience working in an intensive care unit or critical care environment
• Strong knowledge of critical care nursing practices, patient monitoring and emergency response procedures
• Proficiency in operating ICU equipment including ventilators, cardiac monitors and infusion pumps
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond effectively to emergency situations
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail in maintaining accurate patient records
• Commitment to providing patient-centred care with compassion and professionalism
• Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends and public holidays
• Preferred: Advanced life support (ALS) certification or willing to obtain certification
• Preferred: Experience in managing patients with complex medical conditions
