Job summary

Private Advertiser in Malaysia is seeking an Automation Engineer to lead process control and maintenance across the plant. You will drive development of PID systems, mentor instrumentation technicians, and ensure safety-compliant design while supporting site master plans.

The role requires 2–5 years of relevant experience, strong problem-solving and communication skills, and the ability to work independently or in a team. Mandarin proficiency is an added advantage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic/Mechatronics engineering or related field.
• 2-5 years of relevant experience.
• Excellent problem-solving and attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Mandarin proficiency is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead process control to ensure automation systems meet technical and quality requirements.
• Develop and improve PID systems and equipment in line with site master plan.
• Lead troubleshooting and maintenance of automation equipment.
• Deliver engineering to a high industrial standard with a focus on safety in design.
• Mentor instrumentation technicians to ensure inspection, calibration and repair of all instrumentation devices including transmitter, transducer, control valve etc; mill wide.
• Develop the comprehensive Preventive and Predictive Maintenance plan.
• Responsible for machine downtime and oversee division cost.
• Ensure machinery has high availability and an effective maintenance strategy.
• Ensure spare part availability and sourcing for alternates.
• Ensure PLC, DCS and HMI spare parts availability and maintenance strategy.
• Involve and develop 5S best practices and implement safety best practices.
• Prepare comprehensive reports for machinery health, downtime, root cause failure analysis, division cost breakdown, manpower allocation and Pareto.

Job description

Promoting a safe and healthy work environment including leading by example in the development of and adherence to safe systems of work.

Process Control leadership to ensure automation systems meet the technical and quality requirements.

Development and continuous improvement of PID systems and equipment in line with site master plan.

Lead troubleshooting and maintenance of automation equipment.

Deliver Engineering to a high Industrial standard with a focus of safety in design.

Provides mentoring of Instrumentation technicians to ensure a system is in place for inspection, calibration and repair of all instrumentation devices including transmitter, transducer, control valve etc; mill wide.

Uphold and ensure adherence to all applicable environmental, safety, and health regulations, as well as company policies and standards, fostering a culture of compliance and risk management.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or a related field.

Minimum 2-5 years of relevant experience in a similar role.

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Candidates with strong written and spoken Mandarin proficiency will have an added advantage.
