Job summary

Hartalega is seeking a senior C&I engineer to maintain and enhance the plant's control systems in Sepang, Malaysia. You will troubleshoot PLCs, sensors, HMIs, and instrumentation, and lead preventive maintenance and calibration of C&I systems.

You will review control logic, implement small automation improvements, and ensure compliance with GMP and ISO 9001. Collaboration with technicians and vendors is essential to meet shutdowns and upgrade schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Control & Instrumentation or related field.
• Minimum 5 years in engineering/maintenance.
• Proficient in PLC, SCADA, and AutoCAD.
• Experience with Industry 4.0 (IoT/Automation).
• Knowledge of GMP/ISO 9001 and quality procedures.

Responsibilities

• Maintain stability, reliability, and performance of plant control systems and instrumentation through troubleshooting and standardised maintenance practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to PLCs, sensors, HMIs, and field instrumentation.
• Plan and execute preventive maintenance and calibration for C&I systems.
• Review and optimize control system logic to improve equipment performance and process reliability.
• Lead small-scale automation improvements and software updates to existing control systems.
• Maintain accurate, updated, and traceable documentation for instrumentation and control systems.
• Coordinate work with technicians, vendors, and other departments during shutdowns, upgrades, and maintenance activities.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, GMP, and internal quality and safety procedures.
• Keep records of calibration, repairs, and modifications to meet audit and operational requirements.
• Identify and implement improvements for recurring failures and obsolete system components.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and technicians while staying updated on relevant instrumentation and automation technologies.

Qualification and Experience

• Bachelor Degree in Electrical, Control & Instrumentation, Mechatronic Engineering, or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of working experience in engineering/ maintenance.
• Programmable Logic Control (PLC), SCADA, AutoCAD.
• Industry 4.0 (IoT/Automation).
• Manufacturing technologies and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
• Experience in PLC programming (Siemens, Fatek preferred).
• Knowledge of sensor wiring, signal troubleshooting, and calibration procedures.
• Familiar with plant instrumentation standards and preventive maintenance planning.
