Responsibilities

• Coordinate with consultants to interpret plans and specifications.
• Ensure contractors comply with contracts, plans, specifications, regulations, and standards.
• Monitor movement of materials on the project site.
• Maintain detailed site records (progress, manpower, weather, drawings, instructions).
• Establish effective working relationships with contractor and consultants; conduct daily site inspections.
• Attend site, technical, and sub-contractor meetings and communicate status to superiors.

Inspector of Works, Civil & Structural (C&S)

The Inspector of Works is responsible for ensuring that all construction works are carried out in accordance with the client's requirements, approved specifications, quality standards, and project schedule. The IOW monitors site activities, conducts inspections, and provides accurate reporting on work progress and compliance. The role requires a strong understanding of construction materials, methods, trade practices, and relevant regulations, as well as the ability to perform regular site inspections.

Key Performance Measurements:

Monitoring daily works progress and reporting to their superior should there be any delays on the approved works program.

Controlling and maintaining the quality of workmanship.

Coordinating with consultants/contractors on technical issues to ensure smooth work progress.

Job Description:

Coordinating with consultants to prepare interpretation of plans and specifications.

Ensuring contractors comply with contracts, plans, specifications, regulations, and set standards.

Monitoring all movement of material on the project site.

Responsible for ensuring good workmanship throughout the project, while maintaining compliance to the method of statement of construction.

Monitoring and ensuring construction work schedules are maintained.

Keeping detailed site records of various aspects of work such as progress reports, site manpower, weather conditions, drawings received, instructions from superintendent officer, etc.

Establishing an appropriate working relationship with the contractor, carrying out daily site inspections, ensuring corrections are done when needed, and working under pressure to meet deadlines.

Attending various meetings, including site meetings, technical meetings, sub-contractor meetings, etc, and coordinating all site issues while highlighting construction status to your superior/consultants.

Job Requirements:

Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Building Technology, or a related field.

A minimum of 10 years of relevant working experience in construction site supervision, inspection, or quality control.

Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, workman ship standards, and relevant regulations.

Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.

Good communication and coordination skills to liaise with consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders.

Proficient in preparing site reports, maintaining records, and monitoring project progress.

Able to conduct regular site inspections and work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment.
