Job summary

Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD) in Penang, Malaysia seeks an Infrastructure Systems Engineer to provide advanced operational support for compute, virtualization, storage, and bare-metal provisioning services.

The role acts as an escalation point for IOQ Modern NOC and drives durable improvements through monitoring, automation, and SOPs. You will bridge day-to-day NOC operations with infrastructure engineering, converting recurring issues into reliable runbooks and platform reliability

Qualifications

Hands-on Linux, compute, virtualization, storage, and automation fundamentals.

Responsibilities

Provide L2 infrastructure systems support for Linux hosts, bare-metal systems, virtualization, storage dependencies, and related services.
Validate L1 findings, reproduce symptoms, identify failure domain, and execute approved recovery actions.
Investigate incidents using logs, hardware telemetry, OS metrics, dependency maps, and management tools.
Support server lifecycle activities including provisioning, firmware readiness, capacity checks, and decommissioning.
Troubleshoot Linux services, filesystems, permissions, and configuration issues affecting availability.
Support bare-metal provisioning and orchestration workflows (PXE, Redfish, MAAS, Ironic, etc.).
Support virtualization platforms such as Xen, VMware, including host health and resource allocation.
Coordinate with storage engineering for platform issues involving NetApp, Pure, Weka, Ceph, Lustre, or NFS.
Collaborate with network, cloud, identity, facilities, platform teams to isolate cross-domain incidents.
Create escalation packages with impact, timeline, assets, evidence, actions, status, risks, and next steps.
