Job summary

Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. in Penang, Malaysia seeks an Infrastructure Platform Engineer to own MAAS-based bare-metal provisioning, Linux lifecycle operations, and incident management within AMD Fleet Services.

You’ll optimize onboarding, imaging, and host recovery while collaborating with offshore and US teams. Ideal candidates balance rapid restoration with change control, show strong Linux troubleshooting, and automate repetitive tasks using Python, Ansible, and shell scripts.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting MAAS or similar bare-metal provisioning platforms in large Linux environments.
• Strong Linux administration covering boot, kernel, drivers, services, and logs.
• Hands-on with PXE, DHCP, DNS, TFTP, cloud-init, curtin, image repositories.
• Experience building and maintaining standardized Linux images and deployment pipelines.
• Familiarity with hardware management, Redfish, BMC, and out-of-band telemetry.
• Automation experience with Python, shell, Ansible, REST APIs, or CI/CD tooling.
• Knowledge of Jira and incident/problem management processes.

Responsibilities

• Provide L2 incident management and support for MAAS, Linux, and bare-metal provisioning.
• Own investigation from escalation through diagnosis, remediation, and closure.
• Assess incident impact, dependencies, and recovery options; communicate updates.
• Diagnose boot, kernel, drivers, and provisioning issues to enable host readiness.
• Use VBM/Redfish and hardware telemetry to separate hardware and OS failures.
• Coordinate restoration with cross-team leadership and handoffs.
• Create escalation packages with timelines, evidence, and next steps.
• Develop SOPs, runbooks, and knowledge articles for repeatable execution.
• Automate diagnostics, provisioning checks, and image validation using Python/Ansible.
• Improve observability with telemetry, alerts, dashboards for provisioning services.
