Job summary

GXS in Malaysia is seeking an experienced IT infrastructure professional to join our regional bank technology team. The role focuses on designing, deploying and operating secure, highly available network and cloud infrastructure, including VPNs, VMs, and hardware like Cisco and Fortigate devices.

You will implement automation with Python or Bash, support AWS networking, document architectures, and participate in change management to align with MAS regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• 1–5 years in managing IT infrastructure services.
• Proficient in network, VPN, and virtualization.
• Experience configuring Cisco devices and Fortigate firewalls (CLI essential).
• Able to manage cloud infrastructure and SaaS environments.
• Strong analytical, hands-on problem solving; fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, design, build and deploy IT infrastructure services with high availability and security.
• Operate and support day-to-day enterprise infrastructure including network, VPN, and voice.
• Diagnose outages and troubleshoot network, VPN and voice issues with clear documentation.
• Review and upgrade infrastructure appliances (Cisco ISE/ASA, switches, WLC, Fortigate) under change control.
• Develop automation scripts (Python or Bash) to streamline routine network BAU tasks.
• Assist in basic AWS cloud networking tasks in collaboration with senior team.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for infrastructure and runbooks.
• Support MAS regulatory-compliant standards for network services.
• Participate in ITIL change management and RFC reviews.
• Coordinate with vendors for incident escalation and hardware support.
• Assist in security hardening activities and audit evidence collection.
• Stand-by to respond to outages after hours.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, design, build and deploy IT infrastructure services using leading edge technologies that are highly available, scalable and secure.

• Operate, administer and support day-to-day operations for enterprise-level technology infrastructure including but not limited to network, internet, and VPN, covering the Bank’s Singapore office and India office (remotely).

• Diagnose, troubleshoot and respond to infrastructure outages, disruptions or unpredicted challenges for network, VPN and voice, escalating complex issues with clear documentation.

• Review, test and perform upgrades/patches to infrastructure appliances, including Cisco ISE, ASA, Switches, WLC and Fortigate firewalls, under change management guidelines.

• Develop and maintain automation scripts (Python or Bash) to streamline repetitive network operations and minimise manual network BAU ops, including patch orchestration, TLS/SSL certificate tracking and renewal, vulnerability scan scheduling and remediation ticketing, and configuration compliance/drift detection against approved baselines.

• Support basic AWS cloud networking tasks, including reviewing VPC configurations, Security Groups and site-to-site VPN tunnels, in collaboration with senior infrastructure/SRE team members.

• Participate in project initiatives, planning and implementation based on infrastructure strategy.

• Create and maintain technical documentation for infrastructure on processes, procedures, plans and configurations, including network topology diagrams, device inventory, IP address management (IPAM) and runbooks for automated workflows.

• Ensure standards and procedures are in place to effectively manage the infrastructure services for network, voice and telecommunication devices, in line with MAS regulatory requirements for a licensed bank.

• Participate in change management and ITIL processes, raising and reviewing RFCs for network changes.

• Coordinate with vendors for incident escalation, break-fix and hardware support.

• Assist in security hardening activities and support audit evidence collection for network-related controls.

• Willing to be on stand-by and contactable after off-hours to support any outages or major incidents.

Requirements

• At least 1 to 5 years of experience in managing IT infrastructure services

• Proficient in network, VPN, virtual machines, with practical experience configuring and troubleshooting Cisco networking devices and/or Fortigate firewalls (CLI proficiency essential).

• Ability to manage and maintain IT and cloud infrastructure.

• Familiar in SaaS or cloud-based environments.

• Experience in scripting languages (Python and/or Bash) to automate operations and reduce manual network BAU tasks.

• Strong analytical, hands-on and problem-solving skills.

• Able to work in a fast-paced working environment.
