Job summary

Kossan Rubber Industries Bhd. is seeking an Automation Engineering lead to drive automation initiatives, improve system reliability, and enable continuous improvement through new technologies. The role will coach the Production Technical team for effective operation and maintenance of automation systems.

You will coordinate projects from planning to implementation, monitor performance, and work with multiple stakeholders to deliver robust automation solutions in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Relevant experience in automation engineering, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on experience with sensors, servo motors, induction motors and pneumatic control systems.
• Knowledge of sprockets, chains, bearings, shafts and other mechanical drive components is a plus.
• Experience in electrical architecture and conceptual design, including cost analysis and evaluation of design options.
• Basic knowledge of PLC programming/control systems, preferably Omron or equivalent.
• Solid understanding of analogue and digital circuit principles.
• Strong problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to lead projects and coordinate with cross-functional teams.

To lead and support automation engineering initiatives by managing automation projects, improving system reliability and performance, and driving continuous improvement through new technologies and innovative solutions. The role will also provide technical guidance and coaching to the Production Technical team to ensure effective operation and maintenance of automation systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate automation projects, operations and maintenance activities to ensure reliable and efficient automation systems.
• Manage automation projects from planning and design through vendor coordination, installation, testing, commissioning, validation and implementation.
• Monitor system performance and drive improvements in productivity, quality, safety, equipment reliability and downtime reduction.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives through data analysis, predictive maintenance, machine optimisation and the adoption of new automation technologies.
• Provide technical guidance, training and coaching to the Production Technical team on the operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of automation systems.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including control-system drawings, PLC programmes, operating procedures, technical reports and maintenance instructions.
• Work closely with Production, Maintenance, Engineering, vendors and other stakeholders to identify issues and implement effective automation solutions.
