Job summary

Michael Page Malaysia is seeking an experienced Import Sea Freight Supervisor to lead the daily operations of the sea freight import department and drive profitability while maintaining service excellence for key customers and overseas partners.

The role requires strong leadership, a track record in ocean import processes, and the ability to manage KPIs, disputes, and supplier relations in a demanding logistics environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in sea freight forwarding or ocean import operations.
• Proven ability to lead and develop a team.
• Strong focus on customer service, issue resolution, and service quality.
• Demonstrated capability to monitor KPIs, milestones, and cost accuracy.
• Knowledge of SOPs, security, and hazardous goods procedures is beneficial.
• Experience managing profitability and receivables in a logistic setting.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee daily operations of the sea freight import department.
• Manage departmental profitability and financial performance.
• Handle customer complaints and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Monitor KPIs, milestone compliance, and job costing accuracy.
• Ensure adherence to customer SOPs, security requirements, and hazardous goods procedures.
• Develop relationships with customers, overseas agents, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
• Drive customer retention through service reviews and feedback management.
• Lead, coach, evaluate and develop the import operations team.
• Monitor receivables collection and approve operational invoices.
• Identify efficiency improvements and resolve operational issues.

A successful Import Sea Freight Supervisor should have:

• At least 5 years of experience within sea freight forwarding or ocean import operations.
• Strong knowledge of import sea freight processes.
• Prior experience leading or supervising a team.
• Strong execution, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
• The ability to manage KPIs, customer expectations, and operational performance simultaneously.
• Logistics-related education being an advantage.
