We are hiring HR Manager with recruitment taking more than half of the role. The person will hire, take care of the people we already have and build a regional HR strategy based on data.
Responsibilities
The role covers five areas:
1. Recruitment and onboarding (50%+ of the role)
- Run full-cycle hiring for Malaysia and India: intake with hiring managers, job descriptions, sourcing, screening, interview coordination, offers and closing.
- Source candidates actively through LinkedIn, local job boards, referrals and other.
- Build talent pipelines for recurring and hard-to-fill roles.
- Own candidate experience and the employer brand in the region.
- Keep the ATS up to date and report funnel metrics to hiring managers every week.
- Run onboarding so new hires are set up and productive from their first week.
2. Team events in Malaysia and India
- Plan and run corporate events for teams in both countries: team buildings, offsites, year-end parties and local festivals.
- Manage event budgets, venues, vendors and logistics.
- Collect feedback after each event and adjust the format.
3. Employee relations at a systemic level
- Hold regular check-ins and 1:1s with team members and managers.
- Act as the first point of contact for HR questions in the region.
- Solve issues at the root: find the cause behind a recurring problem and fix the process or policy, not just the single case.
- Turn repeated questions into clear policies, FAQs or automated workflows.
- Support managers on performance, conflict and retention cases.
4. HR metrics and regional strategy
- Track core HR metrics: time to hire, offer acceptance, turnover, 90-day retention, eNPS and engagement.
- Analyse trends and present findings to leadership every month.
- Build and run a regional improvement plan with clear priorities, owners and targets.
5. HR operations and compliance
- Maintain employee records and HR documentation.
- Keep practices compliant with the Malaysian Employment Act and Indian labour law, together with legal or EOR partners.
- Support payroll, benefits and leave administration with local providers.
Requirements
- Fluent English and Bahasa Malaysia, spoken and written.
- Must have at least 3 to 4 years of experience as HR Manager in international companies.
- Hands-on full-cycle recruitment experience: the candidate has personally sourced, interviewed and closed hires.
- Experience hiring in Malaysia and knowledge of the Malaysian labour market.
- Fluent with modern work tools: AI assistants used in daily HR work, task trackers (Asana or similar), an ATS, and Google Workspace.
- Comfortable working with data: builds HR reports in spreadsheets or dashboards and draws conclusions from them.
- Able to work independently and drive results without close supervision.
