Job summary

KPJ Healthcare Berhad invites applications for a Hospital Steward to maintain cleanliness and hygiene across kitchen areas, supporting waste management and food trolley handling. The role emphasizes HALAL compliance and food safety standards within a hospital setting in Johor.

The steward will clean, sanitize, and organize utensils, surfaces, and storage, while coordinating with Food Services to ensure timely duties and safety practices.

Qualifications

• Education: Minimum SPM or equivalent.
• 1–2 years in hospital, hotel, or institutional kitchen preferred.
• Basic knowledge of hygiene and cleaning procedures.
• Familiarity with cleaning schedules and basic inventory handling.

Responsibilities

• Wash, sanitize, and store crockery, cutlery, glassware, and cookware as per standard procedures.
• Clean and maintain dishwashers, grease traps, refrigerators, freezers, and dry storage areas.
• Sweep, mop, and sanitize kitchen floors, corridors, and storage areas as scheduled.
• Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, sinks, and storage racks after meal service.
• Participate in routine deep-cleaning schedules for kitchen and dishwashing areas.
• Remove garbage, sanitize containers, and maintain cleanliness of waste disposal areas
• Perform daily cleaning routines during opening and closing duties.
• Operate cleaning agents, equipment, and PPE safely.
• Receive, organize, and store stewarding supplies such as detergents, cleaning tools, and PPE.
• Report faulty equipment, damaged tools, or unsafe conditions to the Senior Steward (where applicable) / Head Chef.
• Deliver and collect food trolleys in coordination with Food Services Assistants.
• Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and organization of kitchen areas, ensuring HALAL, food safety, and hygiene standards.
• Liaise with kitchen and food service staff to coordinate timely completion of cleaning and stewarding activities.
• Perform any other responsibilities assigned by immediate superior or hospital management.
