KPJ Selangor Specialist Hospital is seeking an Assistant Cook to support daily kitchen operations within a hospital setting. You will prepare ingredients, perform basic cooking tasks, and ensure meals follow standardized recipes and dietary specifications.

The role emphasizes food safety, hygiene, and patient-centered service, including packaging, inventory, and assisting senior staff as needed. SPM or equivalent and 1–2 years' healthcare catering experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum SPM or equivalent qualifications.
• Preferably 1–2 years of experience in food preparation, preferably in institutional or healthcare catering.
• Basic knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards (e.g., HACCP, ISO 22000).

Responsabilités

• Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, cutting, and measuring according to recipes.
• Perform basic cooking tasks such as boiling, steaming, reheating under supervision.
• Organize and store ingredients following FIFO and kitchen procedures.
• Receive and check deliveries, ensure correct handling and temp control.
• Inspect ingredients for freshness and report concerns.
• Clean and sanitize equipment, workstations, and utensils.
• Dispose of waste following hospital waste management and safety rules.
• Prepare basic items like salads, sandwiches, desserts, or cold dishes as instructed.
• Support senior kitchen staff during peak hours or catering activities.
