You will conduct inspections, lead HSE audits, manage risk controls, and deliver inductions, toolbox talks, and emergency drills while coordinating with DOSH and clients to ensure ISO 45001 alignment and incident-free project

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in OSH or related field.
  • Registered SHO/HSO recognised by DOSH Malaysia.
  • 3–5 years relevant experience in construction, industrial, infrastructure or related industries.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, FMA, HIRARC, PTW, incident investigation and risk management.
  • Proficient in report writing and data analysis.

  • Ensure OSH compliance with OSH legislation, DOSH requirements, company policies and client HSE standards.

Location: Kempas, Johor & Banting, Selangor Positions Available: 2

We are seeking experienced and committed Health & Safety Officers (HSO) to support our fast-track construction projects. We have one (1) vacancy in Kempas, Johor and one (1) vacancy in Banting, Selangor.

Position Title

Health & Safety Officer (HSO)

Job Purpose

The Health & Safety Officer (HSO) is responsible for ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, company HSE policies, client requirements, and industry best practices. The role involves promoting a strong safety culture, preventing workplace incidents, conducting safety inspections, managing risk assessments, and ensuring a safe and healthy working environment across all project activities.

Key Responsibilities
1. Health, Safety & Regulatory Compliance

Ensure full compliance with Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) legislation, DOSH requirements, company policies, and client HSE standards.

Monitor and enforce safety regulations, work procedures, and site-specific safety requirements.

Conduct routine workplace inspections and audits to identify unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and potential risks.

Ensure contractors, subcontractors, and employees comply with workplace safety requirements.

Monitor the proper use and maintenance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

2. Hazard Identification & Risk Management

Conduct Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Risk Control (HIRARC) activities.

Review and verify Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Method Statements, Safe Work Procedures (SWP), and Risk Assessments.

Implement appropriate control measures to eliminate or reduce workplace hazards.

3. Site Inspection & Monitoring

Carry out daily, weekly, and monthly HSE inspections.

Participate in safety walkabouts with management, clients, and contractors.

Ensure good housekeeping practices are maintained throughout the project site.

Monitor compliance with Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems.

Identify and report unsafe practices and recommend corrective actions.

4. Incident Investigation & Corrective Actions

Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, dangerous occurrences, and property damage cases.

Conduct root cause analysis and prepare detailed incident reports.

Recommend corrective and preventive actions.

Monitor and ensure closure of all corrective action items.

Maintain accurate incident and injury statistics.

5. Safety Awareness & Training

Conduct Safety Induction Training for new employees, contractors, and visitors.

Facilitate Toolbox Talks, Safety Briefings, and Awareness Programs.

Develop safety campaigns to promote a positive safety culture.

Monitor employee competency and training records.

Provide guidance on safe working practices and procedures.

Assist in developing and implementing Emergency Response Plans (ERP).

Organize and participate in emergency drills, evacuation exercises, and fire drills.

Coordinate Emergency Response Team (ERT) activities.

Ensure emergency equipment and firefighting systems are regularly inspected and maintained.

7. Documentation & Reporting

Maintain all HSE records and documentation.

Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly HSE reports.

Track safety observations, inspections, incidents, and corrective actions.

Manage HSE-related permits, licenses, certifications, and compliance documents.

Ensure documentation is properly maintained for audits and client review.

8. Audit & Management System Support

Support internal and external HSE audits.

Assist in maintaining ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management System requirements.

Participate in management reviews and HSE performance evaluations.

Monitor implementation of audit findings and corrective actions.

9. Client & Authority Liaison

Attend project meetings, HSE meetings, and coordination sessions.

Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, DOSH, BOMBA, and relevant authorities.

Support management in ensuring compliance with contractual HSE requirements.

Represent the HSE department during inspections and audits when required.

Requirements & Qualifications

Diploma or Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related discipline.

Registered Safety & Health Officer (SHO/HSO) recognised by DOSH Malaysia.

Minimum 3-5 years relevant working experience in construction, industrial, infrastructure or related industries.

Strong knowledge of OSHA, FMA, HIRARC, PTW System, Incident Investigation, and Risk Management.

Familiar with ISO 45001 standards and HSE Management Systems.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and report preparation.

Good communication, interpersonal, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Able to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced project environment.

Added Advantage

Experience in Data Centre construction projects will be an added advantage.

Experience working on Fast-Track Data Centre Projects or other hyperscale data centre developments.
